Hey guys, on the Jets board I'm in an intense debate in which I believe Jimmy is a better QB than Cousins. I'd love to hear you guys' response to this question. Who is the better QB, Cousins or Jimmy? Thanks...

Right now? Cousins.

In 2018 and beyond, I'd bet on Jimmy. Bonus points for Jimmy coming up big/winning down the stretch this past year too.

It also depends on where Cousins lands.

If he ends up in JAX, DEN, etc. then he's got a LOT of weapons/talent around him with a fantastic defensive core and would have a nice head start.

It's interesting because all my go-to Twitter guys for QB scouting insist that Garoppolo is better. I haven't seen quite enough of Cousins to make a firm judgment but from what I have seen, he doesn't really make a lot of throws that really jump out at you the way Garoppolo does. Cousins has had a lot of success playing within his scheme and that's commendable, but JG is a guy whose talent transcends scheme in a lot of ways. He has his weaknesses (inconsistent deep ball accuracy, some excessive risk-taking) but he also completes a lot of throws that most QBs wouldn't be able to, and in a lot of cases wouldn't even attempt.

Jimmy dragging the 49ers to 6-10 after being traded mid-season is more impressive than anything Cousins has done this far into his career. It might be an amount of game tape thing at this point in his career, but Cousins has yet to play over the talent level of the offense he's been in.

I can't justifiably say Jimmy is a better QB than Cousins headed into 2018. Cousins put up #s with most his weapons missing and his Oline decimated. And he had been consistently good since named the starter.

But I'd I could pick between the two going forward, I'm taking Jimmy.

Look at the receivers and O-line Jimmy G had, that's an invalid argument

This is how I feel as well.

Cousins is proven at this point. Jimmy hasn’t really had the opportunity to prove himself as a bonafide QB - at least not beyond any doubt. Nobody can really arguably say “Garoppolo is a better QB than Cousins”. There’s evidence of great play from Jimmy, but there just isn’t a big enough sample size to put him above Cousins.

But I think Jimmy will be a great one and I think he’ll be better than Kirk once he gets his legs underneath him. For that reason, I’d take him going forward.

Me as well, and I'm a 49er fan.

The one thing I will say that benefits Jimmy considerably, and the one thing that Kirk doesn't have, is Kyle Shanahan. Even if I didn't have ultimate faith in Jimmy G moving forward, I'd have faith in him being good if only because I have that much faith in Kyle Shanahan running the offense to put him in the best position to succeed nearly every game.

In 2017? Jimmy won 6 straight games . That's impressive had he started all year the 49ers go to the playoffs .

Jimmy had no weapons at all .

Honestly, its not that close. Cousins has been in the league for 8 years and never lead his team to a winning record, let alone the playoffs. He is also a bit of a headcase.

Jimmy is a mainstay in the playoffs and plays defense.

Give me Jimmy G. The G stands for gets.

Calm down Stacy King lol.

But Cousins did make the playoffs just two years ago.
