Sort of wish we had traded for Sheldon Richardson now..

Apparently the door is still open. A 5th was the last rumor.  If Wolfe is done it's an option Elway will have to consider.

Best case it's a low ankle sprain.  Anything with knee is scary.

It has to be if Elway is serious about contending, because who is going to stop the run?

Wolfe would have to go to IR for a Richardson trade to not hurt us next year when we'd have virtually no space to roll over.

The other option to consider is SF - we've already traded with them before, and they have a ton of depth at DE having guys like Quinton Dial who wouldn't cost us much salary-wise, and also comes cheap for 2 more years.   He's not as flashy as Richardson, but also comes without the baggage.

Richardson is definitely only an option if Wolfe is done.  Fingers crossed it's not a season-ender.

To be fair to Elway, he went hard after Calais Campbell, who finally took the extra 2M this year and 5M overall (which at his age, hard to fault him) to go to JAX.   By that time, Elway tried to get Chris Baker, but he already committed, and knew Elway saw him as plan B.

But the one mistake IMO that's hard to fathom was not going after Jaye Howard - who ended up signing with CHI on a min-wage deal.  Min wage.   If Elway pushed hard enough to pursue a DE in the top tier, a min-wage vet deal was a no-brainer.  Still, what's done is done.

It's no coincidence Elway brought in DE help once Winn was done for the year.  It's hard to imagine he won't look harder if the injury to Wolfe is serious.

Has anyone seen the footage?   Helps to see if it's the ankle (which has a much better outlook) than the knee.

Makes me want to throw something. Wolfe Ray Barrett....

If it's an ankle, that's a major dodged bullet.  Just gotta keep the fingers crossed.

As bad as the above sounds, consider BAL - they've lost 3 starting OL already for the season.  Or IND, who lost their starting C for the season, their 1st-round draft pick for a few weeks, and Luck.  Or the Chargers, who lost their 1st rounder for a while, 2nd-rounder Lamp for the entire season.   At least we have the first 2 guys back early in the season....Wolfe is the one guy we can't lose for the season, literally no one on our current roster we can even come close to similar production.

Barbre getting first team reps! About time.

Yup, it's time to get serious, and let the 1st team work as a unit.

Screwed up reply, for below - for sure, but he's still mostly a pass rusher only at DE.   Next year when he's bulked up and learned more techniques, different story, but hard to see run D help at DE here.

We saw this with Leary, now Walker. I don't get obsession with playing players out of position.

Walker is only playing EDGE because of injuries. Not exactly the same.
