I feel like there were some mixed signals in this series. Though I do like the idea of three different teams winning the first three games of a playoff series.

My mistake. I thought I caught all of them when I transferred it over. Thanks xD

2022 Offseason

Notable retirements

Head Coach Gregg Popovich

NBA Rule Change

Players are now eligible to enter the NBA draft at 18 years of age.

I've been waiting a long time for this one... I love turning this on.

Draft Lottery

  Team Chances
1 Bulls 25.90%
2 Raptors 19.80%
3 Magic 15.50%
4 Lakers 11.80%
5 Suns 7.50%

12 Skyline 0.7% via BKN

My pick stays put at 12. I also have 17 via Cleveland. and my own pick at 31.

The Magic got the top pick, followed by the Hawks, Thunder, Bulls, and Raptors. Lucky lottery for the Hawks and Thunder..

2022 NBA Draft

Skyline Picks
1.12
1.17
1.31
2.29

I will be looking for some nice bench depth in this draft. This will be my last year with the Skyline, so I would like to set them up with success. They are back to back NBA Champs with 3 legitimate stars.

Here's a look at the top 10 prospects in the draft.

2022 Top Draft Prospects
Rank Position Name Ht WS Wt School OVR Potential
1 PG Boris Floyd 6.2 6.2 194 Connecticut 77 A-
2 C Willis Baldwin 7 7.3 263 Alabama 73 B+
3 SG Gerald Scott 6.7 7.1 199 UC San Diego 73 B+
4 SG Trent Soto 6.4 6.4 206 Maryland 70 B-
5 C Vlado Jeremic 7.4 7.1 276 Serbia 70 B
6 PG Monte Milton 6 6.6 173 Canada 69 B-
7 SG Ray Keefe 6.7 6.10 209 Seton Hall 71 B
8 SG Roderick Meredith 6.5 6.8 183 Syracuse 73 B
9 PF Troy Holmes 7 7.8 252 Kansas 69 B+
10 SG Joel Dillon 6.6 6.8 190 Evansville 68 B-

Trash.

Boris Floyd predictably went 1st. Honestly this draft sucks so bad let's just sim it to my pick.

At 12,  there isn't much left that's too intriguing , however Troy Holmes and Antoine Chase, 2 bigs with length, are available.

9 PF Troy Holmes 7 7.8 252 Kansas 69 B+

Holmes is an interior defender, and honestly I don't have that off the bench. I have a stretch 5 who plays good minutes off the bench and he can score, but he is a liability on D. Holmes isn't much of a scorer, but he would be a good piece to match up on strong bench bigs.

9 C Antoine Chase 7 7.6 275 Florida 70 B

Chase comes a little more well rounded, and has good size for a 5. He averaged 6 more ppg than Holmes in college, but he isn't much on defense, and I have that coming off the bench already, so the pick is.....

Jvh1gcOm.jpg

Troy Holmes

He will add some D off the bench, but he won't ever be more than a role player.

At 17, I am picking the only player on the board that I think will have a role on this team.

Banks, the starting SG, has improved a ton. But his shot motion is so ugly I can't hit a 3 with him. Augmon who comes off the bench is a better 3 point shooter anyway, so I think adding Fraser to the competition should let me decide between the 3 of them.

At 31, another role player who will see 0 minutes for a couple years.

Another SG. Oh well. He was the clear BPA as the 21st ranked player, and he was the highest scorer in college. Has C+ potential.

This draft was pretty blah. Found a couple depth guys, and Fraser may actually turn out to be something. Kid can shoot

So, the SG Fraser who I just drafted has 27 speed.... guess I missed that part. I released him immediately. Diaz actually has B potential and 94 speed. He may end up being something on this team in 5 years, but I'm sure the CPU will screw him up.

The Skyline have Accepted Ervin Posey's tender of $2.2MM. He has been a valuable guy off the bench, and he will be shifted into the starting lineup as we will not be making a push to keep starting SF Scot Christie. Christie is a defensive star at 90 overall, but he can't generate anything on offense. SF is my favourite position to score with, so bye.

Free Agency

The team is going to look pretty different this year. Starting PG Bryant Walton and starting SF Christie are both being let go. 21 year old Jerry Hughes will step in to the starting PG spot, and Posey will be the starting SF. We will need to sign backups at the 1, 3 and 4 spots along with some bench depth.

SF Travis Turner 2 years $9.39MM - lockdown defender. Love having one depth guy at the 3 who can play D

PF Chinanu Onuaku 2 years $7.43MM - bench depth at the 4

SF Terrance Ross 2 years vet min - Terrance Ross killed me a couple years ago in the playoffs. Inside outside threat

PG Tomas Satoransky 1 year $1.5MM - backup point who can score inside

PG Delon Wright 2 years $6.58 - PG2. Nothing special, but I don't look for a scorer for the primary backup point

How did Scot Christie not get signed? I hope a terrible team gets him and not a team like New Orleans....

This is a lot weaker than last year, but it should still be a good team. This should be a competitive team who won't walk over everyone in the playoffs.

Wow! That's one hell of a draft class.... It's annoying that I've set the Skyline up with 4 first round picks and I'm leaving before I can use any of them. I will be leaving to start another expansion team, so hopefully I have a shot at one of the top guys.

Coty Gooden is fantastic. He can shoot, he's tall, and his speed is 83. He's a playmaker, he's physical, and he can score from anywhere on the floor. Oh, and he's 18. Drool

Contract Extension

Ervin Posey has been extended by the Vancouver Skyline to a 3 year $69MM salary.

He is now the starting SF, he's still young and is a monster scorer inside. Further setting the Skyline success post JBURGE

So of course Scot Christie goes to the Mavs, and they are the 1st seed in the West. Wouldn't have it any other way I guess.

I didn't expect to do THIS well, but I'll take it. Dell Carroll continues to be an absolute beauty. But I will point out, this is the first year Bellamy didn't win DPOY. :(
