They both pretty much fall into the same category for me though. Not sure what it was because I love The Police and similar stylized bands of that era, but the likes of Gabriel, Collins, and Steve Winwood (Blind Faith stuff excluded) just isn't for me; solid lyrically, but something about their voices. I was just listening to Big Time - dude was so far ahead of the curve in terms of his videos in the 80s. As far as covers - don't know the consensus on this, but I loved it: Not a big No Doubt fan either, but this captured the essence of the original while sounding true to No Doubt. Really good cover.
