The decision seems easy enough on its face, as Shurmur was 9-23 there in two seasons. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/12/30/pat-shurmur-fired-by-giants/ Well, there goes his head coaching future. That's twice now only lasting 2 years. He will forever now be an OC...and that's okay, because he's a pretty good one. But, I still really blame Gettleman more. According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, they’ve asked the Chiefs for permission to interview offensive coordinator Eric Bieniemy. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2019/12/30/panthers-ask-to-talk-to-eric-bieniemy/ He has no chance at that job, as it's going to McCarthy. But, I guess the interviewing experience will help...although I don't think Bieniemy is head coaching material. I don't think he has the temperament for it. It's why Nagy got a job before he deserved to. But, even Nagy had half a season of play-calling experience before he got the Bears job. Bieniemy has as much play-calling experience as Brad Childress did before he got the Vikings job. If Bieniemy were to get a HC job, he'd need especially strong coordinators on both sides of the ball, otherwise, he's just set up to fail. vike daddy
Ron Rivera has reportedly made the first addition to his first coaching staff in Washington. Word on Tuesday was that Rivera was targeting Jack Del Rio to be the team’s defensive coordinator. It appears he got his man. Adam Schefter of ESPN reports that Del Rio has agreed to take the job on Rivera’s staff. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/01/01/report-jack-del-rio-will-be-washingtons-defensive-coordinator/
vike daddy
Defensive back Antone Exum has been placed on waivers by the 49ers. Exum played in seven games for the 49ers across two different stints with the team. He played the first three in September and then played a special teams role in the final four games after returning to the team. He only played 15 defensive snaps all year. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/01/01/49ers-waive-antone-exum-to-make-space-for-earl-mitchell/

vike daddy
Brad Childress has spent the last two years serving as an offensive advisor to Bears head coach Matt Nagy, but he won’t be around for Nagy’s third year in Chicago. Childress told Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com that he will not be returning to the team. Childress was not expected back with the team in 2019 either as he took a job coaching in the AAF, but left before that doomed league’s first season got underway. Childress was talking to Cabot because he was an early mentor to new Browns head coach Kevin Stefanski and didn’t rule out playing a similar role in Stefanski’s first season in Cleveland. Childress said it is valuable for a head coach to have someone trustworthy to serve as a sounding board, although he added he ultimately thinks Stefanski has others in mind for that role in Cleveland. https://profootballtalk.nbcsports.com/2020/01/15/brad-childress-wont-return-to-the-bears-in-2020/
swede700
Well, no duh that Stefanski would have others in mind. Yeah, Chilly, thanks, but no thanks, I'm not sure what you'd do to my coffee, after what I used to do to yours.
