What Should Eagles do with Nick Foles

There is no way we don’t get a 1 (in value at least) and I’m not sure that would even do it on its own.

Looking at how not having a backup QB killed teams this year and the uncertainty of Wentz’s return plus even when he is back he’s gonna stay aggressive.

teams are gonna really have to pony up.

Well sudfeld did complete over 80% of his passes in his debut and is the only qb to ever do that. So got to wonder how much the eagles like him.

We are taking a linebacker at 32 that is literally our only need fam.

Sure, but that's a LB after trading down right? Assuming that none of the top guys fall to 32.

If Foles can net us a 2nd rounder, we can take the BPA at 32 and grab a LB in the second.

you probably have to take vander esch at 32. If all 4 go I guess you trade down for Jefferson.

The best case scenario IMO is we keep Foles. Let him go into the season as the starter while we let Wentz recover completely. Bring back Wentz (assuming no setbacks) around week 6-7, before the trade deadline.

By that time, it's all but a guarantee that a contending team's QB will have gone down. And THAT is when we trade Foles. We will have a healthy Wentz who will have had plenty of time to get reps in with the starters, coming in when we likely are like 5-1 or 6-0. We know we will beat almost anyone with Foles still, and then when Wentz returns we won't need him to immediately play like his MVP self, like Green Bay when Rodgers came back and they needed him to win them those games to get into the playoffs. But Wentz won't be pressured like that and we would be fine even if he started off a bit slow.

Foles would likely fetch at least a 1st in this scenario. Probably something like a 1st and a conditional 2nd or 3rd. He'd be an incredibly valuable commodity to any contending team who needs a QB. Former SB MVP who will cost next to nothing financially, due to his $7 million salary and the fact that it'd be almost midseason anyway. Nothing is more valuable than a starting caliber QB that costs barely anything.

It's a win win win win really. We win, Carson wins, the team getting Foles wins, and Foles himself wins. He gets to leave Philly still being an icon to us, gets to play for a (likely) team that's making a playoff push and trying to win a SB. And he gets a chance to play almost an entire season possibly, which will (assuming he plays well which uh duh) just make him even more money when he becomes a free agent after the season's over.

Like, imagine if what happened to the Texans last season happened again in 2018 and Watson goes down like 7 weeks in. After seeing what happens when you go from someone like him to guys like Tom Savage or TJ Yates, and then seeing what we did with Foles, Houston would absolutely pony up a possible HAUL for Foles. Or Green Bay as well if Rodgers were to go down. Hundley is garbage.

Would you guys take 1 and 4 for carson? or is that not big enough a haul?

Not sure you are serious. :)

About Foles. I think he deserves to have a say, whatever offer is on the table. I mean, obviously we should trade him, but is that what we wants? Not sure he would like the thought of having another Rams experience. If I were Howie, trade him at least for a second round pick, if Nick would like to go to that certain team.

If the Eagles are offered anything remotely close to a 1st Rd pick, you take it like a thief in the night and run!

They saw something in Nate Sudfeld forcing them to keep 3 friggen QB. So if said QB has to play 3-4 games IF there's a set back, so be it. Most likely, he doesn't.

Carson is the future not to mention We'd save 7M in salary that could go to say signing a FA like Bradham and Drafting yet another Rookie to lock up for 5 yrs.

Thief in Night!

Are we sure Nick can't be "the guy" moving forward? Hypothetically, let's say Carson starts the year on PUP and Nick goes 6-0 or 5-1 out of the gate while playing lights out. What do you do? You're going to tell the guy, "Hey, thanks for obliterating Mike Zimmer and Bill Belichick defenses, winning SB MVP, bringing Philly its first SB title ever, and showing no signs of regression. You'll be immortalized in Philly forever but Carson's got it from here."

There's no doubt in my mind we can get compensation similar to the RGIII trade for Carson. The first half of the 2018 season is going to be interesting.

Nick in the right system like ours with some good pieces around like we have is probably a good qb in the NFL. Maybe even top 10. Carson can probably be number 1. That's why you choose him.

This is one of the more grounded and sensible things you've ever written
