Yes, the player with pedestrian splits who' has never finished in the Top 30 in Air Yards, but regularly finishes Top 15 in YAC is the deep threat on this team. Adams is explosive, but lets' be honest he doesn't have the long speed to be a consistent deep threat. That's probably why we didn't draft 3 big, tall, fast WRs. Athletic testing doesn't make a deep threat. Winning off the LOS, stacking a DB, tracking the ball, ability to catch over the shoulder and high pointing ability make a deep threat. Davante is a deep threat.

I guess we have significantly different definitions of what deep threats are.

Agree - he would be an interesting add. Not sure - but did he have concussion issues with CLE? There was something....thought it might be concussions. In any case, if he's healthy - he'd make a nice Twin Towers set up with Graham.

Might be a bit of a redundancy of the type of TE we already have on the roster. Didn't do much last year with the Saints, but wonder if we take a look. He's still not healthy. Likely won't play this season, IMO. Shanedorf
The Packers are a little more than $16 million under the salary cap right now, with a couple more rookies to sign (Top 3) When they’re finished signing their draft picks, they will be about $13.5 million under... per Tom Silverstein at JSO Need about half of that for in-season flexibility / rollover. Not much room to go shopping for vet FA's, but you might be able to squeeze 1-2 low cost options in there

Packers have plenty of room to still sign a couple stop gap vets. It won't be a question of money. It'll be whether Gute pulls the trigger on a few guys or goes full Ted and rolls into the season crossing his fingers that the young unproven guys pan out at a few positions, namely WR and EDGE. It could do anything from give us 20m in space to eating into that 14m depending on how they structure. That number is pretty much hypothetical until he inks that deal. Leader
At the time of Bryant's release, Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones said: "It is certainly visible to anyone who watches our games, watches our sideline, [that] Dez is certainly a fiery guy who plays with a lot of emotion both on and off the field. Sometimes that can be a distraction. It can be a distraction for Dez, it can be a distraction for other teammates." Bryant, who turns 30 on Nov. 4, has not posted a 1,000-yard season since 2014. cannondale
The media circus alone would make that signing a nightmare. Not a single day would pass where a reporter wasn't trying to get Dez to "Ryan Leaf." Every Packer right down to the long snapper would be asked about Dez every day. MM would be hounded every day with Dez questions. National media from every outlet hanging around and looking for any piece of dirt possible to write a juicy story that gets clicks. An every day, all day distraction that lasts all season. Think for a second about a postgame where Dez had 2 catches for 14 yards. And the entire week following. I can't imagine MM or Gute wants to intentionally bring that into the locker room after their persistent comments regarding players and their fit Not to mention walking off the field whenever the mood strikes, deteriorating skillset etc etc . Arthur Penske
If you pay Dez, who do you lose out on? Hard time seeing 7 WRs unless one is somehow a special teams ace like Janis. Cobb, Davante, and Dez would be locks. Moore nearly one. Then Clark, Allison, Davis, ESJ, and Valdes, ect. I know their unknown but I don't want to lose a chance at developing Valdes-Scantling or ESJ to pay Dez for a year. Especially when you consider Cobb could be gone next year when the 2018 WR draftees would be going into year 2. On the other hand, if Davante or Cobb go down, would be shorthanded on the Vets. This WR group is gonna be a tough call for 2018.
