Alex Smith seems like a steal now with these new QB contracts

I think we might have done the right thing but should kept fuller. This allows us to draft a day 2 qb. Keep money around to build up our defense because Philly is going to be an issue for many years to come. We are going to need a lot of DBs and pass rushers.

We couldn’t have kept Kirk and we couldn’t have kept Fuller without trading pronaby a first round pick, but probably not even then. Broncos offered Talib and a 2nd, Chiefs turned it down. The Chiefs wanted Fuller, we weren’t getting a starting qb who could stay healthy - unlike the Vikings free agent QBs - w/o giving up Fuller.

Surprise surprise, Garapollo’s deal isn’t that much in guaranteed, just $48.7 million. That’s a number that Kirk was worth guaranteed after 2015.

Cap hit is still monstrous for a 3ish years I'd reckon. But they have the cap space to eat that no problem.

Fun Fact: the 9ers only have 4 (now 5) players on their team making more than 5 Million per year. Their highest paid player (before) was Pierre Garcon.

No, it doesn't. Alex Smith us mundane and basically guarantees that this team won't win more than 9 games until he's replaced.

It actually feels like a rip off. We could have started Colt for 5 million and taken a top end QB prospect in next year's draft.

So almost 50 million if he never plays a down ever again in the NFL.

Furthermore, if he makes it to the third season, which, frankly, is likely, its $86.4 million.

Which is exactly what Kirk offered us...

redskins fans obsessed with saving money. brag about all the money we saved when we are 5-11 next year.

On May 2nd, right after the draft, we made Kirk an offer that included the highest fully guaranteed amount upon signing for a quarterback in NFL history ($53 million) and guaranteed a total of $72 million for injury. The deal would have made him at least the second highest-paid player by average per year in NFL history.

How is that us being cheap ?

980 had a sportscaster from KC on this morning who totally flamed Smith in his discussion of him and classified him as a  "Checkdown Charlie". The Fans of KC were tired of having a guy that didn't give them a chance to win playoff games. "Wide receivers and Kelce  running wide open down the field and he hits a running back for a three yard pass." and in the playoffs he can't generate offense against good defenses.

It is what it is, and Im willing to give him a chance, but we better have a top ten defense, returners that can make big plays on special teams and a excellent running game to be successful. It should be noted that we don't have any of these three now, so those are goals 1, 2 and 3 in the offseason.

Yeah, Kelce was pretty upset that Alex was no longer to be his QB... to the point where even after the trade went down.. he told the interviewer that "it's not official until it is." He was not pleased, though fair enough to his new QB. Kelce was nothing but positive about both, but added that there was nothing Pat could do that Alex could not. (even that, I would argue, due to pure arm strength alone, lol)

I'm not in a position to post the interview, but it would be hard for anyone interested to not find it quickly on their own.

How does Hill and kelce both have 1,000 yards and get upset about that .

ive barley met any KC fan say he's checkdown . Excuse me not met herd anyone say that .

The fans even did a nice go away for him.

He had the cheifs chances ? What is the guy talking about .

titans game - they where up by a good amount .

steelers game - he tied the game only to have a holdIng call back .

colts game . The chiefs where up by like 24 points .

how was that his fault ?.  That sounds like the defense or a error mistake .
