He'll play assignment-smart football but he's not going to be a big playmaker. Honestly based on what we had last year, we need people who can just do their assignments reliably more than anything. A play maker would be great but reliable players are just as necessary for this team.
Thelonebillsfan
Lawson has been a god damn freak all camp, dominating everybody he's up against, profiles so much more naturally to McD's defense than Rex's.
Yibbyl
I know training camp is nearly over, but I've been wanting to include these here as an easy to find source of info. I'll just list our the current links so far. Day 1: http://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/joe-b-7-buffalo-bills-training-camp-observations-day-1-82717 Day 2: http://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/joe-b-7-buffalo-bills-training-camp-observations-day-2-72817 Day 3: http://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/joe-b-7-buffalo-bills-training-camp-observations-day-3-72917 Day 4: http://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/joe-b-7-buffalo-bills-training-camp-observations-day-4-73017 Day 5: http://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/joe-b-7-buffalo-bills-training-camp-observations-day-5-8117 Day 6: http://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/joe-b-7-buffalo-bills-training-camp-observations-day-6-8217 Day 7: http://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/joe-b-7-buffalo-bills-training-camp-observations-day-7-8317 Day 8: http://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/joe-b-7-buffalo-bills-training-camp-observations-day-8-8417 Day 9: http://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/joe-b-7-buffalo-bills-training-camp-observations-day-10-8617 Day 10: http://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/joe-b-7-buffalo-bills-camp-observations-day-10-8717 Day 11: http://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/joe-b-7-buffalo-bills-training-camp-observations-day-11-8817 So, three takeaways from Day 11: Boldin already stepping up on his 1st day of practice to be a locker room leader and getting much deserved respect. Also, we are possibly already looking at people to cut so as to get a good compensatory pick for Gilmore. The biggest deal IMHO is Ragland missing reps with even the 3rd stringers! Egads, did other team's staffs wisely let him fall to the 2nd round or is the fit on this D just not there?!?
Yibbyl
Alright, so I left off with Day 12 and we've made it to Day 13. The obvious big 2 on day 12: Shareece Wright took over Darby's spot, for now, and Zay Jones took over Sammy's. I got a tie for what I feel is the next important thing, so I'll refer to these as 3a and 3b. The first unique thing, 3a, was that we were practicing the day after a game. I love this idea as the sooner people get feedback, the better. Issues would still be fresh in the players' minds and so it should make it easier to connect with correct procedures. For 3b, I chose McDermott having the special teams working on a blown snap. Again, recent event, quickly addressed. I don't think I've said it before, but I really like our new HC! The link for Day 12: http://buffalonews.com/2017/08/11/learned-bills-camp-day-12/ On Day 13, the 3 takeaways I had were: 1) Peterman taking snaps with the 2nd team. This is evidence that the whole "everyone will compete" isn't just some smoke blown up our backsides. 2) Trae Elston is making a push to make the 53, with his solid play at safety. I've been pretty vocal that I thought our safety depth was very concerning, so it's nice to see a surprise player back there stepping up. Lastly, the injury, not the one everyone is talking about (Matthews), but the truly critical one, Glenn. The team is now making back-up plans in case Glenn can't play opening day and our options are not very good. Day 13: http://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/joe-b-7-buffalo-bills-training-camp-observations-day-13-81317 Glenn not being able to play would be killer. I just don't understand how they've had the entire offseason to address his injury and now we're a month out from the start of the season and they are talking about potentially needing surgery? Just frustrating. Peterman definitely needs to get some serious looks as our backup. He was a bit of a mixed bag last week but Yates looked absolutely awful. ChaRisMa
Hows Zay Jones doing? Also, Micah Hyde was a great player. More of my favorites. Highlights from the last four years.

And in other news from day 14, I'll be focusing on the secondary. Kevon Seymour came back from injury and immediately worked with the 1st team. Sounds like he is not fully healed though, which could be concerning. Finally, Bradley Sylve is getting reps both outside and in the slot. If he can be successful in both positions, he would be a valuable addition to the 53. http://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/joe-b-7-buffalo-bills-training-camp-observations-day-14-81417 As training camp ended, WKBW released their training camp awards. First mention will not be a surprise: Eddie Yarborough got the Flying Up the Depth Chart award. After that, I would say the awards were pretty boring after that. Zay Jones has performed well in camp and with Matthews injury, should start seeing more playing time during the preseason games. Lastly, I would go with Hughes playing more true to form as he did before last year. I think Rex's refusal to let the guys play an even man front really hurt Hughes the most of any of our D-linemen. http://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/joe-b-2017-buffalo-bills-training-camp-awards The station also did a preview with the Eagles. Personally, the only thing from the article that interested me was the mention of Streater. Rod had received so much praise this off-season, that I've been expecting him to get at least some looks with the 1st team. It hasn't happened yet. http://www.wkbw.com/sports/bills/joe-b-5-things-to-watch-for-in-bills-eagles-81617
