Players who might regress on your team this season

JJ's last full season he won his 3rd DPOTY award. I don't think he'll come close to that this season, even if he is playing to that level I would imagine the FO and coaching staff will be more inclined to protect him with Clowney stepping up.

#FakeNews, there was no slowdown in Geno.  Adam Jones is a good selection though...

:D

We'll continue to disagree a little on this.  2012 was prime Geno.  And while he's still very good, he's not 2012 Geno anymore.

T.J. Ward and Aqib Talib are 30 and 31, other than Domata Peko they're the elder statesmen on the team. Would be pretty realistic to expect at least one of the two to regress. Ward is probably already declining, Talib peaked last year.

I could see injury rust affecting Matt Paradis especially in the first half of the season. Would have been tough to repeat his breakout performance last year anyway.

Yeah, Talib is going to fall off at some point in the near future. For Champ Bailey it coincided with an injury so hopefully Talib can stay healthy.

Tom Brady....it's the year of the 40.

Joking, he'll probably be even better B|

I'll go for Edelman, because I think Cooks will offer something even more tangible to Brady, and may take production away from him a bit.

Nate Solder as well, if his form from the Super Bowl continues, we have a major problem.

Patriot fans dont know what a major problem is....-_-

For the Raiders, I would say Michael Crabtree. I could see his numbers regressing a little bit, and not necessarily because he is regressing but due to the Raiders having more weapons and the emergence of Amari Cooper as a premiere alpha male #1 Receiver. I think Crabs #s take a slight hit bt he will still be a key player for us, asDerek Carr probably trusts him more than anyone on the team in clutch situations.

Reggie Nelson - Some can argue he regressed last year but his flashy INT #s still earned him a probowl. He simply doesnt have the range anymore, and he takes so many bad angles. Another year older and slower, I wouldnt be surprised if by mid-season he is benched for younger guys like Obi, or TJ Carrie.

I was going to put Sean Smith but he might not even make the team. 40 Million dollar corner now playing nickel LB covering TEs. One of Reggies biggest busts.

Ben.....nothing dramatic, but I could see a slight drop off, particularly in his mobility.  Fortunately, he doesnt have to run for his life like he did before we got a respectable OLine.

James Harrison -  Guy has already regressed from his prime, obviously....but he is still playing at a pretty damn high level for a guy in his late 30s.

Those are the only 2 that I am worried about.   Another guy mentioned Stephon Tuitt, but I dont agree with that.  Tuitt played pretty damn well even when Heyward was around and he was still learning.   I think Tuitt and Heyward are going to be a wrecking crew this year.

For the Vikings, I will nominate Danielle Hunter. Though unheralded, he had a great season last year with 12.5 sacks as a specialist. This season he is getting the majority of reps at LE; hopes are high, Vegas has him somewhere like 5th most likely to win DPOY (don't remember the number exactly, but it was very high). However I can't help but remember all of the other specialists around the league over the years who had great success and then were given the starting role only to find out they didn't have the gas to do what they had before.

dont get me wrong: Hunter's supremely talented and one of the most important players on our defense. I just don't know why you try to fix something that ain't broken. In my opinion, you let Brian Robison start this year with Hunter getting specialist snaps. Next year, you draft a mid-round base end to fill Robison's role.

HM: Safety Andrew Sandejo - Has always been well below average, but squeezed his way to average last season. It wouldn't surprise me if last year was an outlier and he falls back to mediocrity.

I've seen Bradford and Adam Thielan mentioned already. Adam's a good pick. If you're just concerned about completion %, Bradford's a fine pick (he wasn't good last year outside of that, so I'm not sure how bad one might expect him to be this year).

Patriots existed before 2001, you know...

If you don't think having a LT that is a revolving door is a problem, then perhaps it is YOU that doesn't know what a major problem is?

The Raiders have essentially been one massive revolving door for over 15 years.

For Oakland:

  • Donald Penn. He is holding out for a bigger contract and is 34. He was amazing last year and only allowed one sack (the one that killed Carr), so I definietly expect his stats and overall efficiency to do downhill.
  • Reggie Nelson. Another aging vet who is 33, but was still somewhat effective last year as a ballhawk (although sucked vs the run still and gave up big plays). I expect him to continue a negative trend and eventually be replaced by Obi.
  • Sean Smith. Was poor lastyear, and has been eaten alive in TC and the first pre-season game. He stands absolutely no chance vs smaller/quicker WRs.
