Just in terms of "best use of resources"  is signing an interior defensive lineman to a big FA deal a good idea?  We already have some pretty good pieces there.

Many think there's a value in having 3 that you can rotate. Maybe Adams is that guy in 18

As far as the resource allocation - GB is still pretty low on the positional spend for the DL, even for a 3-4 front. GB sitting at # 28 right now

Packers have DL youth in Clark, Lowry, Adams and adding another vet at a workable price makes all of them better. OTC suggested Wilkerson at 2 years for  $15 M and that seems like a reasonable resource allocation, its not really a big signing.

One  concern-  when it comes time to extend Clark,  assuming he progresses as you'd expect, don't you have to pay him more than whatever you paid Wilkerson?  Whole reason GB is cheap on the DL is that we have some decent players on rookie deals, but presumably you'd want to keep them around even when they're not cheap.

That's a fair point, especially in GB

But I'd think the overall DL market will dictate Kenny Clark's next paycheck more than the Wilkerson compensation will - and the DL market will be going up between now and when Clark is on tap in 2019/2020. If Wilkerson is getting $7.5 AAV, I don't think that approaches 2019 DL AAVs for young ascending players like Kenny Clark

Right now, OTC says $ 7.5 AAV = 23rd best interior DL as of 2018. Daniels is getting $ 10, that's probably a better barometer for Kenny than the WIlkerson cash, assuming OTC is correct in their predictions for Mo's next deal.

We first need to determine whether his turdishness was an acute or chronic affliction....

...and few are better equipped to make that diagnosis than his former HC, Mike Pettine. There are any number of high - end players who suffered bouts of turdishness while employed in crappy situations, but flourished in new and better surroundings.

If Pettine signs off on the guy, then you can move forward in the discussions. If not, look elsewhere.

I feel like "trust the people in charge , who have more information and a better perspective than we do, to make the correct decisions" is a relatively hard ask for most football fans.

What would be the point of a football discussion forum then?

Mike Pettine was in Seattle last year as a consultant.

He will know everything there is to know about any of those descending defenders

Descending defenders. Like the approach.

F off with Michael Bennett. He'd be a terrible fit and Wilkerson is a baby Albert Haynesworth. Screw that...
