Peers respect and like Adams. Peers despise Mayfield. Big difference.

More worried about whether his teammates respect him than peers. Could careless if say Tom Brady or Aaron Rodgers respected Adams as a person/leader than say an incoming rookie .

Yeah I hate him too (totally punchable face) but would probably love him if he was throwing 30+ TD's for the Jets.

Different types of fans. I’m a Yankees fan and never liked ARod. When rumors were of Harper coming to NY (until Judge brokeout), I wouldn’t have cheered for him either.

Philip Rivers is the most hated QB in the league.  Pretty sure we'd all take him.

You beat me to the punch. you are right on both counts. Some people on this board think a locker room should be all hugs & kisses they are far from that. One day Mike Golic was talking about that subject, he said he played for four different teams including ND. He said their were players that he liked and their were players that were jerks and couldn't stand them. Both Brady & Rivers are always yelling at players and coaches, then you have the other type like Bart Star & John Unitas who show no emotion but are also winners. My feeling is who cares I just want a real NFL caliber QB, what we have been missing for two many years.

There’s difference between being a jerk and disrespecting opponents and such. And that’s my issue with Mayfield. Showboating in opponents faces after big plays, grabbing his crotch, throwing his teams flag in his opponents logo, etc. Thats way deeper than just being a jerk.

As a old Brooklyn Dodgers fan, Don Drysdale was one of my favorite players. My company ran a affair for the Boy Scouts every year and we had guest speakers and Whity Ford & Drysdale were there, two of the biggest jerks I ever met. We had years that we had Y A Title, John Units, Bart Star. Phil Rizzuto and Yogi and those guys were great. Sports pros and comedians some time they aren't what they appear, Kevin James ( King of  Queens ) is on nasty guy in public.

I don't know much about the Mayfield kid I only saw him play only two of three times. I did like the fire I saw I'm him, but what you are talking about will get knock out of him real quick no matter what team he goes to.

Baker Mayfield is an absolute gamer and goes out there and competes hard every play. The idea that his peers despise him is complete BS. His teammates absolutely love him contrary to Rosen, whose teammates and coaches tip toe around the questions of him being a pain in the @$$ to work with. Baker Mayfield is going to make the haters look really, really, stupid. You either have it and want it or you dont. Baker Mayfield has it, and he cares about football. Manziel had it, but didn't care about his career he cared about being at Wet Republic in Vegas on MDW or Labor Day blowing lines off an escort girls chest. Let me know when Baker Mayfield gets to that point, than make the Manziel comparisons. That is what happens when people refer to you as "Johnny Football".

A peer is not a teammate. That’s a teammate. I’ve never argued that Mayfields teammates don’t like him. But not a single person that plays football outside of OU liked him. And that’s my point. Bc it’s the disrespectful way he plays the game. He’s always been a starter. How do you think he’s going to do where his whole life he’s been the guy pretty much and then he’s a guy who has to earn it rookie? That cocky attitude will really run his teammate the wrong way then. Last time he had to fight for a job he ran away to OU let’s not forget bc Mahomes was arriving at tech.

Not a single player outside of NE likes Tom Brady either. Also, not true with Mahomes.  OU didn't guarantee his scholarship for the spring after they offered Mahomes a scholarship.

I dont care who likes him that doesn't go to war with him everyday. Nobody likes Sidney Crosby, 3 Cups and 2 gold medals later...well who honestly cares.

He had to fight for his job as a walk on for OSU...walked away from a scholarship and beat out two upper class-men. I'll take that guy EVERY day of the week. Not to mention you are absolutely speculating about his reasons for leaving TECH. If you dont like him thats fine, but you have no factual evidence to suggest that ALL of his peers hate him or that he left because of Techs recruiting class. However the fact that he left his scholarship and won the job at an even better school as a walk on IS fact. I respect your concerns about Baker Mayfield especially some of his on the field antics, but you cannot take away from him, his ability to compete and his will to succeed. Guy is a winner.
