2018 NFL Draft

1. Cleveland Browns: Saquon Barkley, RB Penn State - Similar to the 2017 NFL Draft, the Browns go BPA and opt to choose the best player in the draft. At 6'0, 230 pounds lbs. Barkley has the size and the speed to be a dominate RB in the NFL. With Josh Gordon being able to practice and participate in full offseason workouts and David Njoku having another year under his belt, this selection should give opposing defenses nightmares.

2. New York Giants: Josh Rosen, QB UCLA - With Barkley off the board, the Giants opt for the best passer in the draft. Darnold will get some consideration here, but his propensity to gamble and throw INTs will not please Pat Shurmur as the new Head Coach. Rosen is a safer bet and he will be groomed to take over for Eli as the franchise QB in 2019.

3. Indianapolis Colts: Bradley Chubb, DE North Carolina State - The Colts need a playmaker at DE and Chubb fits the bill. He has the size to stop the run and the motor to be a pass rushing force at DE.

4. Cleveland Browns (from Houston): Sam Darnold, QB USC - The Browns grab their guy. Darnold has an issue with INT's (which would scare a lot of teams) but his talent, toughness and poise at the QB position is great. In Cleveland, they need a QB who is fearless and can rip the ball around the field in tough weather conditions. Hue Jackson is grinning ear to ear because he now has a leader QB who will not get easily flustered in the pocket.

5. Denver Broncos: Josh Allen, QB  Wyoming - The Broncos are picking this high due to horrible QB play throughout the season. John Elway (who misses out on the Cousins sweepstakes) will look towards the talented Allen to be the QB of the future.

6. New York Jets: Quenton Nelson, OG Notre Dame - The Jets win the Kirk Cousins sweepstakes and opt to protect him with the best lineman in the draft. The pick of Nelson will alleviate pressure up the middle, which causes Kirk Cousins the most problems. He can now operate in a clean pocket and step into his throws, which was not the case in Washington.

7. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Marcus Davenport, DE UTSA - The Bucs need help at DE. Here's a talented DE that they can pair with Noah Spence to create more pressure on opposing QBs.

8. Chicago Bears: Tremaine Edmunds, LB Virginia Tech - The Bears opt to take Edmunds to strengthen their linebacking corp. Edmunds is stout against the run and can help rush the passer.

9. San Francisco 49ers: Minkah Fitzpatrick, DB Alabama - The 49ers desperately need a corner for their Cover 3 scheme. They opt for arguably the best DB in this class.

10. Oakland Raiders: Vita Vea, NT Washington - At 6'4, 300+ lbs Vita Vea would be an instant Day One starter for the Raiders. He's not only a good run stuffer, but he has the ability to rush the passer too. This selection should make things easier for Mack and Irvin to put tremendous pressure on QBs.

11. Miami Dolphins: OT Connor Williams, OT Texas - The Dolphins have to make a decision on whether they want to pay Ju'wan James 9+ million dollars. With his injury history, I think they opt to move on. They look to draft another talented tackle to protect Tannehill. At worst, they could possibly kick Williams inside to play guard.

12. Cincinnati Bengals: Isaiah Wynn, OG Georgia - The Bengals badly missed Kevin Zeitler last season. Here's a stud OG that will help protect Dalton and improve the run game.

13. Washington Redskins: Roquan Smith, LB Georgia - The Redskins need more speed at the LB position, so grab the speedy, instinctive Georgia LB. Smith's ability to go sideline to sideline is special and he should be a playmaker for the Skins for a long time.

14. Green Bay Packers: Harold Landry, OLB Boston College - The Packers need more pass rushing help from their LBs. Clay Matthews is a shell of himself and the team can save close to 11 million on the cap by releasing him. Landry had 16 1/2 sacks in 2016 so he can get to the QB.

15. Arizona Cardinals: Baker Mayfield, QB Oklahoma - The Cardinals gamble on the talented but controversial QB, due to Carson Palmer retiring. Baker Mayfield is tough, accurate and his teammates rally around him, so the Cardinals bank on his ability to be the face of the franchise.

16. Baltimore Ravens: Calvin Ridley, WR Alabama - Mike Wallace is entering free agency and Breshad Perriman has been a bust. The Ravens opt to take the best WR in this class in Calvin Ridley, to give Joe Flacco a reliable target.

17. Los Angeles Chargers: Derwin James, SS Florida State - At this point of the draft, the Chargers take the BPA and that's James. James has freakish ability and will help complete a formidable secondary.

18. Seattle Seahawks: Mike McGlinchey, OT Notre Dame - Seattle gets the second best OT to help protect Russell Wilson. The coaches know that Russell Wilson has been counted on to do to much for the Seattle offense, having elude the pass rush first and then throwing/running downfield. With this selection, Wilson should have a clean pocket to operate in and not have to worry about the rush.

19. Dallas Cowboys: Leighton Vander Esch, LB Boise State - The Cowboys have to become less reliant on Sean Lee on defense. While Anthony Hitchens is a quality backup, he is a free agent and they need more talent (Sean Lee is 30 years old). With talk of the Cowboys moving Jaylon Smith to SLB, Vander Esch can step in Day One and start at MLB for the Cowboys.

20. Detroit Lions: Rashaan Evans, LB Alabama - Evans has sideline to sideline speed and is a effective blizter (which should help Ziggy Ansah). He should be able to start Day One at WLB for the Lions.

21. Buffalo Bills: Da'Ron Payne, DT Alabama - The Bills were one of the worst teams in run defense last year and trading Marcell Dareus directly contributed to that. They get their replacement here by drafting Payne. While Payne isn't the prospect Dareus was coming out, he is stout in run defense and he will come at a fraction of the cost.

22. Buffalo Bills (from Kansas City): Denzel Ward, CB Ohio State - EJ Gaines is a free agent. They are in a pass happy division. The Bills opt to pair the talented Ward with Tre'davious White to form a formidable CB duo for the future.

23. Los Angeles Rams: Billy Price, C/G Ohio State - The Rams choose to solidify the interior of their OL.

24. Carolina Panthers: Christian Kirk, WR Texas A&M - Cam needs more WR help. Kirk brings that deep threat speed to stretch the field but also runs good routes.

25. Tennessee Titans: Will Hernandez, OG UTEP - The Titans get more protection for Mariota.

26. Atlanta Falcons: Taven Bryan, DT Florida - Bryan has the talent to be a force at DT. He is underrated and should help the pass rush with Beasley and McKinley.

27. New Orleans Saints: Malik Jefferson, LB Texas - Jefferson is an explosive athletic that would be a welcomed addition to an rapidly improving defense.

28. Pittsburgh Steelers: Ronnie Harrison, S Alabama - The Steelers grab Harrison to solidify their new look secondary.

29. Jacksonville Jaguars: Courtland Sutton, WR SMU - The Jags grab a replacement for Allen Robinson with Sutton. Sutton is a tall, big bodied WR who should be an effective security blanket for Blake Bortles to seal victories.

30. Minnesota Vikings: Lamar Jackson, QB Louisville - The Vikings take a chance on Jackson, as Case Keenum will get paid and Bridgewater isn't a sure thing at QB.

31. New England Patriots: Mike Hughes, CB UCF - With Butler out the door, the Patriots address their CB position with Hughes.

32. Philadelphia Eagles: Jamarco Jones, OT Ohio State - Jason Peters is coming back but having a talented backup to provide depth is a great luxury.

The top 5 LBs being off the board (Edmunds, Smith, LVE, Evans, and Landry) is worst case scenario for the Saints. I don’t think that Jefferson is a 1st round player. I honestly think that Lamar Jackson might be the right answer under this scenario (assuming that Payton thinks he can be taught to run the offense).

I like Evans as a player, but the pick doesn't make a lot of sense for the Lions. Our two biggest needs by far this offseason is a RB and DL. Lions are actually in a very good spot to address either of those needs with quality talent and yet I've seen a few mocks where the Lions pass up better players, at positions of need, for a LB.

You did a great job. The NFC West will be absolutely nasty if AZ gets Baker.

Well done. The Price pick wouldn’t upset me.

All in all, excellent work.

Thank you. What do you think about Arden Key?

The Bills drafting a CB round 1 makes zero sense. They just signed Davis.

Davis is coming off groin surgery and is signed to a 1 year deal. I thought Ward would be a great selection as he's arguably the BPA and should excel in the slot. Any player suggestions?
