ochocinco4pres
Per rotoworld: CSN Mid-Atlantic's Chick Hernandez reports free agent DT Chris Baker visited the Bengals on Tuesday and is "likely to end up there." Baker was released by the Bucs two weeks ago after bombing out as a free-agent signing last offseason. The 30-year-old recorded just a half-sack across 15 games for Tampa Bay but was previously a very disruptive player in Washington. However, Baker has long faced questions about his effort. HangOnSloopy
He's a good player. Tampa used him as a 1 Tech and he floundered. He's more of a penetrating 3 Tech. This team is more in need of a Big Run Stuffer IMO, but still a good get if he ends up here.

sparky151
Since he was cut he doesn't reduce the number of comp picks we get in 2019. That's the important thing, right? Who cares if he can play or not or is lazy.
Futbudds
If he can fill in enough to keep Geno fresh I’m all for it.
sparky151
That's Glasgow's job. I don't see Baker beating out Billings for the NT job either.
Beck Bristow
We needed a 4th tackle. This will do.
TheVillain112
Geno, Baker, Glasgow, and Billings. I can live with that, assuming Billings is ready to take over the NT role...
Jason_Bengal_Fl
I guess this is officially goodbye to Pat Sims.
sparky151
This is a dumb, wasteful move. That 3 mil could have been used to get us a better player. Hell, it might have been enough to get us into the bidding for a Solder, Jensen, or Norwell over what we'd be willing to otherwise pay. We'll probably pay Bodine 4 mil instead of paying Jensen 7. Baker is 30, in decline, reportedly lazy, and a problem in the locker room. Just what we need more of.
Beck Bristow
Huh. I look at it as a no risk high reward move for a rotational tackle.

sparky151
4 hours ago, Beck Bristow said: Huh. I look at it as a no risk high reward move for a rotational tackle. The risk is he costs 3 mil and is likely to be on the 53 simply due to his contract. Tampa's defense was crap last year and Baker was one of the underachievers. We could re-sign Sims for a veteran minimum benefit deal and probably get better play while saving more than 2 mil.
