what have been the early reports on Mixon so far?

Mixon has boomed in OTA and minicamp practices, with Dalton and others praising his versatility. The early NFL knock on Mixon was his conditioning, a point of contention for the Bengals after Hill has struggled to stay in ideal shape. Mixon responded by working and running harder, including getting in some extra training sessions with fellow former Sooner Adrian Peterson.

The Bengals should feel comfortable calling upon Mixon to do everything in camp. Bernard can't do anything at the moment about the rookie's upward trajectory in the passing game. Hill's biggest edge over Mixon is experience, and through all his woes, Hill has come through in short-yardage and goal-line situations.

I'm still a bit in shock that this kid fell to us in the second round. This may get ridiculed because of the name I'm about to bring up, but I believe when all is said and done that Dalvin Cook could be as big/bigger steal than Randy Moss was. That's how highly I think of his game and how it will translate to the NFL.

There is no reason on the football field that Dalvin Cook should've fallen to the second round. This wasn't a production issue or even an issue with the level of competition he faced. He played against some really good defenses, and ended many of those games looking like the best player on the field.

Michigan was the 15th best defense in FBS last year (119 ypg). He ran for 145 yards and a TD.
Clemson was the 24th best defense in FBS last year (129 ypg). He ran for 169 yards and 4 TDs.
Miami was the 26th best defense in FBS last year (131 ypg). He ran for 150 yards.

Speed, vision, power, elusiveness.....he has it all.

Dalvin Cook is different.

The Minnesota Vikings rookie running back is different because he can shimmy into and out of creases others wouldn't even dare look at, let alone accelerate through. He's different because of his nimble feet and short-area quickness, which makes defenders come up with only handfuls of air. And he's different because of his ability to blast off into the open field while piling up chunk yardage.

While the Vikings have set the bar high for Cook, he has the natural ability to sail above it while being one of the leading contenders for Offensive Rookie of the Year.
