Buc Ball
Brate and Howard essentially play different positions despite both being TEs, so this move isn’t an indictment of Howard, or indicative that the Bucs don’t believe in him at the position. We use two tight end sets regularly to the point where we don’t have a true FB on the roster. Howard is a far better blocker, but Brate contributes massively in the red zone and on third down. We overpaid a bit, but the move sends a message that we’re prepared to reward our ‘homegrown’ players. He’s been underpaid for the last few years, so again there’s an element of the team ‘doing the right thing’. I like this move a lot.
