What are some plays to break tendency on that? Maybe something that looks like another back corner route but then a TE or RB runs a wheel route into the space vacated underneath? SotanKing Posted November 28, 2018 Share Posted November 28, 2018 This is a good brief summary of Cousins under pressure so far this year - OL has given up 171 pressures (most in NFL this year and also higher than the number of pressures OL gave up in entire last season) so far this year. Cousins has been under pressure in 40.7% of drop backs(2nd highest in NFL). Cousins has actually been very good under pressure- Cousins PFF grade under pressure -68.3 (5th in NFL). Cousins passer rating under pressure - 87.1 (4th in NFL, league average is somewhere in mid 60's). These are some pretty damn good numbers...question is whether he can sustain this for rest of the season or not considering he is facing pressure on almost 40% of dropbacks. He has played well for much of the season when you consider the lousy protection. Tonight's loss against the Seahawks was on him, though, IMO. He just didn't get the job done when the game was on the line. We are paying him big time money. He has to come through in situations like this. I don't know if he has that in him or not. About all we can do is fix the offensive line and probably get a different OC for Zim next year too. It's just not working with DeFilippo. wcblack34 Posted December 11, 2018 Share Posted December 11, 2018 He hasn’t led a single game winning drive this year. Building around him would be a lot easier if he didn’t cost 28 million a year. Again, his replacement should be drafted this year. I’m of the opinion that with salary the way it is in the NFL for QBs, you should move on from a QB after their rookie deal unless they’re Brady or Rodgers or Brees. Take a QB in the first two rounds every other year. Always have the replacement on the roster. Pay your QB peanuts and put teams around them. That way, if you draft Kirk Cousins, you can put enough around him to mask his deficiencies. That’s going to be really hard to do with his elite salary and crap play.
