LETSGOBROWNIES
I figured I’d make some threads for our free agent signings to break things up a bit. https://www.ninersnation.com/2018/3/14/17119018/49ers-free-agents-carlos-hyde-rumors-cleveland-browns 15 over 3 years, with 6 million year 1 (that means 9 over the last two years or 4.5 million per for those of us from West Virginia )
Aztec Hammer
Like it. Split with Duke and Rookie RB. Rookie RB takes over and gets second contract not long after Hyde is done.
DawgX
Good signing. Hyde is nothing special but he's solid. Hopefully this will put the talk of Barkley at #1 to rest. Now we've just gotta extend Duke.

BleedTheClock
Barkley--Starter Hyde--Goal line Johnson--3rd down This would make my pantaloons stand up.
brooks1957
I dunno, guys. I loved Hyde in Columbus - but with the depth of the RB class coming out this year, I feel this may have been an unnecessary signing. And you wouldn't have all those miles on the tires. $5M a year is feature back money.

Hyde is the definition of above average, but he's got some definite injury concerns. I don't hate the price tag, but that makes him the 8th highest paid RB in the league. If he's healthy and paired with Duke, I love it. I do love that we can walk away after this year if he's hurt/underperforms. I still expect us to draft a RB. Duke isn't exactly always healthy or a between the tackles runner either.
brownie man
Yeah love we can walk away from this surprised he signed this kind of contract this way if rookie takes over day 1 great if not we have a nice combo of he and Duke Hyde much better fit than Crowell for the power run scheme
NateDawg
I have a feeling we go more for a 3rd-5th round RB then a round 1-2 back at this point. I’d still love to land a good starting caliber back via draft, but we’re not in bad shape with Hyde/Duke. Hyde isn’t Jeremy Hill, so that’s a win. Crow had to go, so this is as good as a FA signing as I could have hoped for. Premiere RBs don’t really hit the open market.
