And they wouldn't have had to give up a 1st Round draft choice for one year of Bradford, and so, would have had in Heineke, at least a decent, young, mobile, reasonably adequate temporary QB job holder, who could get them by while picking their spot in the draft to find their franchise QB, as well as using that 1st Rounder, plus other high draft choices to build a better team around that new QB. Watson and Mahomes were also drafted that year we didn’t have a first round pick and it’s reasonable to assume we could have been in the mix for a top 10 pick without Bradford. Not that Spielman would have been able to make the right QB pick as it hasn’t exactly worked out for him yet.

If Zimmer would have influenced Spielman's pick, it would have been a traditional, fairly immobile, pocket passer, with a history of playing conservatively, and taking few chances. dc_vikingfan
Watson most likely would've been the pick if went the draft route. He's the only QB that year that checks all the boxes under the Parcells QB criteria. Which is important to Zim and what made them like Teddy.

Sort of off subject, but back in 2014, Derek Carr was a better fit for our offense than Teddy Bridgewater was, with Norv Turner as the OC, but we still went with Teddy. Water under the bridge now. If Denver makes the playoffs, I'm rooting for them to win it all, assuming the Vikings don't make it.

He's doing pretty well but Bridgewater has played very well this season. I'd take him over Heinicke. Both teams do seem to play to their QBs strengths though. They are in a position to succeed.
