Drew Stanton sign 2 year deal with the Browns

Good move. It means that in all likelihood their rookie QB doesn't see the field all year (Darnold hopefully), they'll let Tyrod walk after this year into free agency, and next year hopefully Darnold will be their starter and Stanton will be their back-up.

Tyrod Taylor

Drew Stanton

Sam Darnold

Sounds a lot better than:

Deshone Kizer

Cody Kessler

Kevin Hogan

It's the browns, they'll all be ruined by the end of the 2018 season. I hope not for Tyrod's sake but we all know this will end.

Smart signing of Stanton though, but like why not just start Stanton instead of trading for Tyrod....?

Darnold gets another redshirt season at the pro level.

It seems borderline unthinkable, but what if the Browns don't draft a QB in the first at all now?

Then Hue Jackson will get fired, John Dorsey can blame it on Jackson and him wanting to "build a roster around his QB" the browns suck again in 2019, rinse repeat until the NFL collapses and the browns are delegated to the arena league.

I'd be shocked if the browns didn't draft a QB in the 1st, but it's entirely possible they're that incompetent.

Because Tyrod is a far better QB? The Browns dont seem to be in 'tank for next year' mode anymore, they are actually trying to win now with Tyrod and prep Darnold for the future. Stanton seems to be the veteran mentor backup they will need for Darnold after they let Tyrod walk.

However, this means its the end for Kessler/Hogan. Wonder if they can even get a late round pick like a 6th or 7th for Kessler. Maybe they will hold onto him this year and next year once Tyrod is gone the depth chart would be Darnold/Kessler/Stanton with Stanton just being the veteran mentor for both young guys and provides some veteran stability in the locker room.
