Basically takes out the “surviving the ground” part. You need possession, two feet down, a 3rd move (that includes reaching, another step, turning, etc.). Was voted 32-0 by owners. Tomlin pulled a Polian and spearheaded the change.

It takes away some confusion, and most will like the change, but I still believe a guy shouldn’t be able to have the ball squeeze out from under him upon hitting the ground and that be a catch. If enforced the way the rule states, we’ll see more fumbles this year. Interested to see exactly how often this gets taken into effect.

so what if you catch the ball and immediately get tackled without the 3rd move?

As long as you retain the ball, you're OK.

If not, then it comes down to whether you had the opportunity to make a football move.   That's the 3rd section.  That's a judgment call, and likely not reviewable.
