RB’s dam well better be exempt or we may as well just do away with RB’s full stop. They will get crushed if they run around upright

Meaning half the tackles in the league are “initiated” with the helmet - not necessarily where the force is coming from, but when guys are lowering their pad level (a necessary aspect of football) then the head inevitably gets lowered. Its often the first point of contact. Those can’t all be flags? Isn't there a difference between lowering your pad level and leading with the crown of your helmet? Nothing about the crown. Players initiate contact with their helmets all the time either making tackles or on the LOS.
Buc Ball
I’m not sure that this rule is going to fundamentally change the sport. If a player tackles with correct form or goes into contact in the “proper way” (ie the way it should be being coached) , that’s not “leading with the helmet”, so not a penalty. None of this prevents a ball carrier from running with the correct pad level. Basically, it’s now a penalty if you engage in a play that puts you at serious risk of a head injury. Legislating that kind of stupidity out of the game is a good thing.
Danand
I wonder what they will do with plays like the one at the 2.00 minute mark, which resulted in a concussion

This needs to be reviewable, especially in the case of ejections, and it needs to apply equally to all players, but it's at least an attempt. Bringing in the NCAA's targeting rule would be better, but the NFL hates following the NCAA's lead on anything so I don't see that happening. kramxel
It's dumb. (period) But making an ejection of any kind, not subject to review is even dumber.
JAF-N72EX
This is just dumb. Giving the refs more power instead of finding ways to lessen the level of subjectivity on play calls. Seems like the NFL is once again playing the "safety concern" card as an excuse to favor the pass game in an attempt to generate higher scoring games and, in turn, increase revenue. The RB position is slowly going down the same road as the FB did. At this rate, a RB is going to be replaced by TE's with skill sets like Kelce. No wonder the league didn't care about screwing over RB's when they implemented the rookie scale. Makes sense now.
Malik
Does this rule apply to WRs who lower their head after a defender is already in a tackling motion.

You are signing up for brain trauma/body deterioration in exchange for large sums of money. Don’t like it? Don’t play.
