He did have a 3.22 ERA over his first 96 starts. It's just weird that he's completely fallen apart. Baseball confuses me like that. It seems like there's a lot more variance from year to year in the sport.

Compared to basketball, yeah. Compared to football, not even close.

Really? I haven't looked into data or anything, but it seems like baseball players are much less consistent year to year, especially pitchers.

Yeah. I mean Shelby Miller's career of 3 years of decent numbers, then out of the league is typical for an NFL player.

He's one of those guys whose numbers never look terrible but you always feel like your team is about to blow the lead when he's pitching. Also he looks like a total scuzzball.

Eh, I gotta disagree. Guys who post solid to good production as starters their first three years in the NFL tend to stick around for awhile.
