Hate seeing season ending injuries to anybody. And there seems to be more and more each year.
Forge
I don't view it as a major deal. Sucks for depth purposes, but I don't view the drop off from smith to Ray Ray as crazy bad, and I'd rather have Foster start the season and play even if he struggles
BleedTheClock
Yeah I saw this was the top story on ESPN today. This seems like something that is barely newsworthy. I always viewed him as a low end starter. This injury changes the 49ers W/L record by 0%
TheRealMcCoy
Isn't he pretty bad?

Can have splash plays, but gets washed out vs run and isn't good in coverage. Him and Howard I'm really surprised people paid anything over 2-3 mil a year. Along with what seems to be a string of bad luck at the LB position for the 49ers. From guys retiring early, to injuries, to players getting in trouble, the 9ers cant seem to catch a break at LB. turtle28
Horrible news for the 49ers. Smith is a good LB but fans have to be excited to see more of their young LBs like Foster.

But he would be a good rotational piece and special teams player. With Bowman and Foster he wouldn't be as relied upon as he was in Oakland.
