Glad DJ Moore is a poll option this time around.??

Quite easily this should be DJ Moore. He has the analytics going his way. He’s highly productive as a receiving threat, producing with poor arm talent and 3 different starting QBs in just 2017 alone.

He’s the best YAC receiver I’ve seen at the collegiate level since Percy Harvin, only with a more durable build. His intangibles will attract the Ravens to him.

Lastly the Ravens are looking to provide an extra boost to ticket sales, Moore attended Maryland and has quite the local following, it only makes sense for them to select him on many levels.

The only thing Calvin Ridley has going for him is the Ozzie-Alabama connection and the fact that he was considered by “draftnicks” early in the process to be the best receiver in this class, when in reality that was never truly the case. He’s very polished, competitive, and fast; but if not for popular opinion probably more of a 2nd round talent IMO.??‍♀️

I agree with DB424. Ridley has the Alabama-Ozzie-connection, and while he might be knocked down the board for the wrong reasons, I see Moore as the better fit with the Ravens.

I believe we all know about the pros with Ridley, and they certainly makes him an intriguing prospect, but his cons (age, production hight/weight ratio and YAC ability) are the strengths with Moore. I see Moores ceiling as higher, and his YAC ability, especially on contact is way better than Ridleys and more suitable to what Ravens need in a receiver.

Mike McGlinchey was my second option. He would be a great addition to the right side of the offensive line, and I believe he is a type of player which the Ravens regard highly. Our ravens board widely disagree on the OT's though, so Moore is more of a consensus pick.

I know Ravens fans have mostly talked themselves into Moore (probably because he went to Maryland..) but I still think Ridley is the only WR worth taking this high.

Nope, it’s because Ridley isn’t as good as pundits assume. He has no elite traits. He’s a very good route runner, but he’s not possessed of elite speed as a deep threat. He doesn’t have elite acceleration to overwhelm defenders. His hands are very good, but not elite.

Ridley is simply put not a game changing threat. He’s a very safe 900 yds, 5 TDs  receiver at the NFL level. When we’re talking pick 16 in the draft, in a draft where 5 QBs went in the first 15 picks, there are still elite talents on the board. Or at the very least players with the potential to reach an elite ceiling.

If you’re going to circumvent going away from an elite talent like Connor Williams, it should be for guys like DJ Moore, Courtland Sutton, LVE, Bryan, or Davenport. All of which have a freak physical trait that could push them into elite category at some point and outside of Bryan have had similar collegiate success as Ridley.

For Ridley to succeed at the NFL level as an elite player he will have to be an anomaly from an analytics perspective. And in fact, a guy like Michael Gallup would be an absurdly much better value (and IMO a better player) than Calvin Ridley in the first. I’ve yet to hear an argument from Ridley fans about why he will be a game breaker at the next level.
