You just had to make it difficult by removing the big three from the board...

We had this discussion in the Colts forum briefly.  I said Fitzpatrick then and I'll stick with him now.  I think having him as a moveable piece who can play all over the secondary would be too good to pass up compared to the other options.  Ward would have been my choice had we not changed schemes, but I don't think he's the best fit now that we will be running primarily zone.  Tremaine Edmunds is way too boom-or-bust for my liking.  I would love Roquan Smith but I can't see anyone else (including Chris Ballard) agreeing that he'd be worth #6.  Don't really see anyone else worth considering here.

Gosh, I'm dealing from a position of ignorance here (ignorance being one of my endearing traits) but, with Nelson and Chubb gone, and there not being an OT really of Pick #6 value, I'm going to say Fitzpatrick. It strikes me that the Colts need one or two great playmakers on defense- real game-changers, potential Pro-Bowl players- as opposed to solid guys. I considered Davenport and Edmunds, as they seem to have great physical tools, but both are a little more of the developmental type. Fitzpatrick could come in and be one of those rookie-sensation game changers, and I hope he is. I think that @stallyns and the Colts' fans have suffered long enough.

Besides- think of the fun of saying the name "Minkah" all the time, when he stars as a rookie and goes to the Pro Bowl in his first year!

I actually think they would take Edmunds before Smith.

Its a toss up. Teams/people who like combine numbers and measurables will probably lean towards Edmunds. Others whl prefer film will lean towards Smith. But really they are both graded really similarly by most people. Its a matter of what you prefer to rate higher, measurables or film.

Honestly, Id probably lean to Edmunds first myself. Smiths tape looks cleaner, less wasted motion in everything he does. But Edmunds plays on a much faster football CPU if I make sense there. He just reacts a little faster, which is a leg up for the NFL. But cant go wrong with Smith. Theres something to be said for having the cleanest technique in the draft since Keuchley.
