O'Neill on the other end gave up multiple sacks

Don't want the Vikings OL pick in the draft to be one of these jobs...

PS ....one of the funniest commercials ever!

I find that nuts. Prior to this season he only gave up 2 (one vs GB in Minnesota 2019, and one in the playoffs game vs SF).

Hopefully he bounces back this season. He's worth extending I think.

Clearly he is worth extending, is arguably the best young OL on the roster no question.  Still was kind of disappointed in his pass pro this season, not sure how many sacks he gave up but seemed like a lot more than usual.

Packers just converted $11 mil roster bonus into signing bonus for Bakhtiari, clearing $8.3 mil in cap space.  They are -$13 mil cap space for next year before this move, hopefully the Vikings can do similar things to free up some money.  I still think they should toy with Anthony Barr being more of a DE possibly or have a more versatile front that changes.  Or just go two LBs with Kendricks and Barr only but then who is the other safety would be a massive question.  Not sure I would trust Gladney, Hughes and Dantzler at CB because Hughes probably will get hurt and so will Dantzler.

Just a random though but could Orlando Brown Jr play for us? Does he fit our scheme or no? Not nearly as knowledgeable as others but seems like he wants out we need help In the trenches bad.

With the Vikings currently obsession with taking athletic offensive lineman only, they would not even think of taking Orlando Brown Jr and obviously could not come close to paying him either.  He will get paid a few mil this next season but the years previous he only got about 1.8 mil combined for two seasons where he was a Pro Bowl player both years.

If the Ravens do not pay him they are idiots, especially since he is so key to that historically dominant run game.

Daniel Jeremiah's top 50 players does not include....

Alex Leatherwood OG/OT Alabama
Wyatt Davis OG Ohio State
Jevon Holland S Oregon
Rashod Bateman WR Minnesota
Carlos Basham DE Wake Forest
Shaun Wade CB Ohio State
Josh Myers C Ohio State
Richard LeCounte III S Georgia
Rondale Moore WR Purdue
Jaylen Twyman DT Pitt
KJ Britt ILB Auburn
Jackson Carman OT/OG Clemson
Baron Browning Ohio State SR ILB/OLB
Quincy Roche Miami FL SR DE
Joseph Ossai OLB/DE Texas
Creed Humphrey C Oklahoma
Tyson Campbell CB Georgia
Spencer Brown OT Northern Iowa
Jay Tufele DT USC

Kind of think he is full of it with some of these guys left off the top 50 which goes into the middle part of the 2nd round.  Would be great for the Vikings those if all these guys fall in the draft.  Still do not get the Leatherwood dislike, what because he does not look like hercules off the bus?  Yeah again Orlando Brown Jr people made fun of with his combine work and he is a two time Pro Bowler in three seasons in the NFL.

I would love to trade back in the first and trade up in the 3rd to get 3 or 4 of those guys. It's seems like that's a worse case scenario situation.

I don't really see that happening, of course everyone would love to trade down in the 1st but that takes a team moving up to get a guy and what guy would that be?  Trey Lance is the obvious but even he should be gone to Atlanta or more likely Carolina or the 49ers.  Rashawn Slater maybe but he should be long gone to the Chargers or Dallas before the Vikings pick and would be in play for the Vikings if he falls to them.    Maybe Kyle Pitts if he falls but doubt he would make it past Dallas or the Chargers but he is also in play for the Vikings.  Rousseau maybe but the Vikings would be in play for getting him possibly again.

So Slater, Rousseau or Pitts if they fall the Vikings would be potentially drafting any of those dudes, same could be said for Trey Lance.  If he fell sure I am not a huge fan of it but would be hard to pass a QB for the future who can sit multiple years and learn.

So trading down to get more draft picks is probably not happening.  Trading up into the 2nd is not that easy either with what little the Vikings have unless they plan to trade Rudolph or Reiff or someone.  So again they better hope all these dudes fall like some say, because if not they better make all the picks they have stick and kill it in the 3rd and 4th round.

Currently I have the Vikings getting these guys having Rousseau to the Chargers and Slater to Dallas and Lance to the 49ers.

(1) 14 Vikings: Alex Leatherwood Alabama SR OG/OT
(3) 79 Vikings: Elerson Smith Northern Iowa SR DE
(3) 91 Vikings (From Ravens): Jerome Johnson Indiana RS SR DT
(4) 110 Vikings: Robert Hainsey Notre Dame SR OG/OT
(4) 116 Vikings (from Chicago): Jamar Johnson Indiana JR S
(4) 125 Vikings (from Buffalo): Jonathan Adams Jr Arkansas State SR WR
(5)141 Vikings: Paddy Fisher Northwestern RS SR ILB
(5) 155 Vikings (From Jacksonville): Khalil Herbert Virginia Tech RS SR RB
(6) 175 Vikings: Jose Borregales Miami FL RS SR K
(7)206 Vikings: Greg Eisworth Iowa State RS SR S

That is assuming Leatherwood can play guard for a year or two while Reiff is still on the roster then move him to OT later on if need be.  Would be fine with Darrisaw also or Vera-Tucker as well but would not mind Darrisaw at OT but would not trust Vera-Tucker there at OT in the future.  Might need to pick a safety higher but I like Jamar Johnson and is range and coverage skills.  But Harris is probably gone so that is a must as well, Eisworth could be a good get late because his covearge is so so but is tough as can be.  Hainsey has played OT and OG at Notre Dame and C at the Senior bowl so would love that versatility and Elerson Smith could be a star DE and is a local kid and Jerome Johnson has pass rushing upside at DT.

Trent Williams got paid less than Riley Reiff did last season.

Reiff had a good year, best of any OL on the team but Trent Williams was a Pro Bowler and clearly is on another level than Reiff.  That kind of pisses one off knowing Reiff gets as much as one of the best LTs in the game.   Sure one of those years in Washington he got $15 mil but others only $11 or $10 mil a year.

Any way the Vikings could get Trent Williams for 2-3 years at that price range?  I would get rid of Reiff in a second for that one.  Crazy how money and contracts do not always line up in terms of production and what a player does.  Key example would be KC and some of the ridiculous price points those guys are at on the OL.

Williams was under contract and wanted out of Washington. Likely didn't make an issue out of his contract because he didn't want to be in DC. He'll get paid in Free Agency by a team with far more cap space than us. But if they could make it work, I'd be ecstatic.

Here are the highest paid LTs in the NFL.  According to the average Trent makes more but again last season alone Reiff made just a bit more than he did.  Shocking Tunsil gets that much but he deserves it, real shock would be Bolles.  Not sure he is that good.  Obviously Bakhtiari deserves it, as does Stanley and Tunsil and Lewan.  Not sure DJ Humphries deserves that amount or Solder with his injuries he has not played up to that contract.

You can fix bad technique, you can fix a knucklehead, you may even be able to fix a reoccurring injury. But you can’t fix lazy.

Some guys need a change of scenery to realize the opportunity they have. This team needs to get better in the trenches, and if they could flip a 4th for a guy with Wilson's talent and upside, it gives them more flexibility with their 1st and 3rd round picks. If it doesn't work out, they're out a 4th round pick. Not a guaranteed starter anyway.

If he is a distraction, he's an easy cut.
