The Often Overbearing, But Otherwise Ordinary Offensive Line

After two games, Brian O’Neill has graded as PFF’s 20th overall rookie offensive linemen (out of 51). He’s graded 10th in terms of pass blocking.

Is it me or does 20th overall rookie not sound that impressive?

How many OL was he drafted behind? Maybe 10?

He was the 12th OL overall in the 2018 draft:

1st Round: Nelson (6th overall), McGlinchey (9), Miller (15), Ragnow (20), Price (21), Wynn (23)

2nd Round: Corbet (1st), Hernandez (2), Smith (5), Daniels (7), Williams (18), O'Neill (30)

so you were close!

How about 18th highest pass block grade of 101 tackles of any experience level playing a minimum 40 snaps?

40th highest overall grade of those 101 tackles?

One of only 11 tackles league-wide who hasn't been charged with a pressure allowed, having played the 2nd most snaps (one snap less than Noteboom of the Rams) of any of those 11 tackles?

OK, that's a little better.

Meanwhile, Connor Williams, considered (by many, including me) as a plug-and-play starter who the Vikings could've or should've targeted for a trade up in the 2nd round, has been struggling at LG for the Cowboys:

Williams looks awfully small there.

Reiff-Compton-Elflein-Remmers-Hill

I have doubts that Elflein will be ready week 1. He wasn't able to lift weights in the offseason. Putting him out there without a decent amount of time lifting just seems like asking for trouble. Would be great if he was ready to go. I just don't expect it.

I suppose if I had to make a guess I would say:

Reiff-Compton-Edison-Remmers-Hill

But I think that has a less then 40% chance of being right too.

So basically, your guess is as good as mine.

This is what I want, but I think Compton starts.

I love O'Neill but I think he should sit his rookie year.

I disagree SK. I think if Isidore starts if he outplays Compton(good start so far, imo). I do agree that Hill will get the nod over O'Neil. I’m liking his potential, though.

That ranking looks promising for Isidora. Wouldn’t be upset to see him earn the starting LG position.
