No pro-rated guarantees though.  It works just like if a team guaranteed a portion of the players base salary. The new team takes it on.  The only way around that would be if Jones agreed to a re-worked contract prior to the trade that turned part of his base into a signing bonus.

Unless that information hasn't been released, the Giants free up the full amount of space and we take it on.
