The AFL is looking to expand their game beyond Australia, and since they play on such a large playing surface.

Regular AFL games consist of 18 players at a time.  AFLX will have 7 players on the field at a time.

It looks as if this is successful, they may look at expanding the game to other markets like the US.

The 2018 season is just a few weeks away from beginning.  Preseason games began this weekend, and there are quite a few new faces in new places.

West Coast Eagles new recruit Liam Ryan going to be a high flyer in the league.  Small in stature, that young man can jump out of the "gym."

The 2018 season begins in a little less than 36 hours (4:25 a.m. on the east coast) when the defending premiership team, the Richmond Tigers begin the defense of their premiership against the Carlton Blues.

I am no Tigers fan, but they are the champs until someone knocks them off.

I'll repost a few links in case anyone wants to see what this exciting game is all about.

Great first week of the fixture (schedule).  Some classic match ups, including the Demons and Cats, and the Eagles and Swans, which may have had the goal of the year.

The Kangaroos and Suns (ironically) played in actual monsoon type conditions in an entertaining, yet ugly low-scoring matchup.  The Roos redeemed themselves on Good Friday, thrashing the Saints behind Ben Brown's six goals.

Looks like the Eagles may do the double - Superbowl and AFL grand final in the same year

They looked fantastic against the Tigers.  Nic Nat is such a game changing Ruck.  Such a fantastic athlete in that position, and Jack Darling had a fantastic game.  The Cats have such a huge void in the Ruck, and the four games that Gaz has played he looks like he a step or two slow.

Up the Dees!

They smacked the hell out of Carlton this weekend.

I am a huge baseball fan here in the states, but with the WatchAFL app, I am finding myself watching several Footy games each weekend, and can't get enough of watching Gerard Whatley and Mark Robinson on AFL 360.  (There are a couple of youtube sites that post "The Footy Show" and "Front Bar" and a couple other programs.)  I have become so engrossed by the game.
