The rest of the team is not very good, which is why their record is so bad. It’s pretty silly to look at a Rebuilding team, point out their one all star who plays the most minutes, and blame him for on/off stats when the starters are getting blown out on a nightly basis (because the wizards don’t have a talent starting 5). Dude I agree with some of that. But those damning stats are consistent with my statements that Beal doesn't play defense. That's why his net sucks. He's good... very good. But you don't keep a corvette on a pinto team. You trade him and get back that haul and get on with rebuilding. The trade packages rumored for Beal last year were nice. His recent comments, and another year off his contract, mean two things: 1) he's starting to get frustrated - who couldn't see that coming; and 2) the Wiz have less leverage - they can't trade him in-season this year and he has one year left on his deal - that haul gets smaller. Skinsin2013
Brendan Ingram scored 49 last night. He was a key piece in the trade rumors to LA.

He's been shooting 53.6 percent from the field 38.8% from 3 over those 6 games. This is the efficiency I've been calling for all year out of Beal. He should always be around a 40% 3-pt shooter & a 50% or above all around FG shooter.
turtle28
There's chatter that the Sixers are interested in adding a shooter before the trade deadline and Bertans name has been amongst those mentioned. Would you do a deal like Bertans for Zhaire Smith (Sixers 2019 1st rnd pick SG who gets no minutes there) and Mike Scott? They’d be good additions to our bench for next year: PG: Wall, Ish SG: Beal, Zhaire SF: TBJ, McRae PF: Rui, Scott C: Bryant, Wagner We could also still sign a good front court FA with Mahinmi's contract expiring and we’d still have Bonga, AP, Schofield and the addition of our top 10 first round pick. turtle28
Last night was the return of Rui and Wagner, my brother in law and niece attended the game bc she loves Steph Curry, they did get to see him knock down shots before the game and she loved it. Like usual the Wiz were good on O but a sieve on defense - Allowing Alec Burkes to get 30 in criminal. Beal had another great game on O w/ 43 while being atrocious on defense! Bertans continued to be on fire, Bryant played well and looks like he back to good now, he’s been good the past week. Rui and Wagner played well in their first game back, Wagner played with restricted minutes. IT was good in the first half, but I think he missed all of his shots in the second half. The dude is done, he shouldn't even be on an NBA roster anymore IMO, we should bring up Jerian Grant from the Gogo. Beal: 43 pts, 6 asts, 2 rebs (3/7 from 3) Rui: 11 pts, 8 rebs Bert and: 19 pts, 5 asts, 4 rebs (5/7 from 3) Bryant: 11 pts, 7 rebs Wagner: 8 pts, 2 rebs in 12 min
Skinsin2013
No perimeter defense. Nothing has changed. Fire Brooks. Trade Beal. Trade Bertans. Find a defensive-minded coach and two-way players.

turtle28
I heard they hired a defensive specialist assistant this past offseason. He sure hasn't improved anything. To me defense is about effort and will, these young Wiz just don’t have that right now. Beal doesn’t care about D right now bc he knows the team is going nowhere so he gives no effort. IT and Ish are small and always been liabilities on D outside of the occasional steal. Oh, and outside of Mahinmi, their bigs aren’t good D player either. So yeah, we can blame the coach but when you have a roster of mostly all Bad defenders - a few vets who don’t care - and young inexperienced players you’re going to be bad on D. That being said, if we still had Wittman let’s say, I think there would be more accountability on D for this team. There would be more effort given on that side of the ball. And if they didn’t give effort on D, Wittman wouldn’t hesitate to yank the starter for a bench player who was at least willing to give effort.
MKnight82
Wizards were busy today. They flipped guard Jordan McRae for Shabazz Napier, who presumably will start at PG after the next trade. Wizards added 2018 lottery pick SG Jerome Robinson, who hasn't done much in the NBA so far but is still young. They traded PG Isaiah Thomas to the Clippers in a 3 team deal, and the Clippers will reportedly cut Thomas so who knows where he will end up.

I wanted him to be around as a scorer off the bench when Wall returns next year or maybe even a starter at SF over Troy Brown next year if we couldn’t sign an upgrade over them. Another young guy who proved himself once giving the opportunity than just shipped away. Not a smart decision for the future of the team.
