Yup... from this year. Yeah, I'm trying to be fair to Wall. There was the ESPN stat earlier this year about him walking/jogging more than anyone in the NBA. I attribute that to the knee. I hope so anyways. Moving forward (after this year), the # of knee injuries concerns me.

Me too, that being said I don’t think Wall is going anywhere. Not only because Ted won’t trade him,  but I’m not sure another team would even give us what he’s worth given his knee surgeries and the size of his contract.

Also, you move Wall and it doesn’t necessarily make the wizards better. As long as Beal is here and Otto - if Wall was gone - they’d likely have seasons like they had this year. So, you’d be trading a team that could finish top 4 in the conference for as long as Wall and Beal are together for a team that’s a back half of the playoffs seeded team or a 9/10 seeded team in the conference.

Whats the point in that? Go with a team that can’t win a playoff series and give up a team that usually does? Huh?

So, just trading Wall isn’t a solution. They’d have to do what Philly did for 3-5 years and pray they draft well - Ernie won’t - and get better than a team that can win around 50 games a year if healthy.

Lets not forget that the wizards should certainly be a better team than they are now if Ernie had just taken BPA every draft since 09.

09 could’ve been Curry or DeRozan instead of the trade for mike Miller & Foye. They could’ve drafted Draymon Green too and should have kept what ended up being the Jordan Clarkson pick.

Ernie screwed the 2011 draft up by taking Jan Vesley over better and more known college talent like Clay Thompson, one of the Morris twins or Kawhai Leonard.

As opposed to all those playoff series they've won? O.o

So have the wizards. Except for the first few years Walls as here and in 2015 when Beal and Nene missed 30 games each, they’ve won a playoff series each time they’ve made the playoffs and gotten to a game 7 in the series vs the Pacers and Celtics. Game 6 vs the Hawks bc Wall broke his wrist.

Even in this year when Wall was hurt, he still accounted for 40 to 50 points of the wizards offense every night. When he’s healthy, that number jumps up to near or over 60 points.

The Raptors? They had a great regular season. I don’t see them staying on top too long in the conference.

While this season was spectacular for Toronto, the Raptors have consistently been the better team.

Toronto Raptors records during the John Wall era

  • 2010-11: 22-60 (Wizards: 23-59)
  • 2011-12: 23-43 (Wizards: 20-46)
  • 2012-13: 34-48 (Wizards: 29-53)
  • 2013-14: 48-34 (Wizards: 44-38)
  • 2014-15: 49-33 (Wizards: 46-36)
  • 2015-16: 56-26 (Wizards: 41-41)
  • 2016-17: 51-31 (Wizards: 49-33)

And still were swept by the Wizards during that time frame...

They’re a great regular season team that usually falters in the playoffs. It was only one season, like 2 or 3 years ago where they nearly beat Lebron and the Cavs to get to the finals. One time they did amazing in the playoffs.

Also, throwing 2010 in the rev is a joke right? That’s when the Wizards still had Nick Young, Crawford, Blanche and McGee. Lol. Probably that, 08-09 and 09-10 are the most forgettable seasons in Wizards  history.

The Toronto vs Washington may be the best series of the first round even though it’s a 1 v. 8. Wall vs Lowry is a great match up, as is Beal v. DeRozan. I think the series goes 7 with Toronto likely winning at home in game 7.

That being said, the way Toronto will win this series is with their centers; Valanciunas and Poeltl.

The clear advantage for the Raptors are their two centers. Gortat is a few years past his prime, and his prime was barely above average anyways and while Mahinmi is a good defender on the block and good rebounder, he offers little on offense except as a screener and on lay ups. If Toronto wins this series it will be because their bigs dominate the Wizards bigs.

You do see that bolded and underlined phrase, right in my previous post, right? If you want to remove the one year where the Wizards had a better regular season record, that's your call.

Are the Raptors a team that chokes in the playoffs? Quite possibly. Of course, they've gone further than the Wizards have, and have had more success than the Wizards (the sweep notwithstanding).

It’s not quite possibly, the Raptors MO has been they choke in the playoffs and are a regular season team kind of like the Capitals and Nationals this decade. The MO of the Wizards in the Wall & Beal era has been if they get to the Playoffs, they exceed expectations and play better than they do in the regular season. I’m not saying that’s acceptable just that it’s been the case since Wall & Beal have been together they’ve been a better playoff than regular season team. That’s the opposite of the Raptors - minus the one year they nearly beat the Cavs. It’s really not acceptable for the Wizards to not be better in the regular season - injuries aside - every year since they acquired Beal - except for 2015 when he and Nene each missed 30 games - they should’ve won 50 games.

This is obviously going to be fairly officiated lol

Yeah, horribly officiated. They’ve called touch fouls on the Wizards and the Raptors are getting away with murder. Valanciunas should have been called for delay of game for holding the ball away from the red after his last foul and that would have been a technical foul on the Raptors, but the refs don’t call it. ?

NBA officiating is embarrassingly bad. It’s pretty funny how much officiating has influenced the nba for years.
