Even if Wall does return to his former level, that isn't until late 2019-2020 season and more likely the 2020-2021 season. Clears a ton of cap space so the Wizards could actually be a factor in salary trade dumps in February. okay then ... *shrugs* Most of the moves I think have been quite shrewd. This one just allows them to tread water at best and waste a bunch of cap space for years in exchange for no playoff appearances at worst. I meant they have two All-Stars on their roster once Wall returns. Come on dude! You knew what I meant! No playoff appearance this year, hopefully a top 5 pick in the 2020 draft, a John Wall return and hopefully the continued development of Brown and Bryant into good starters could mean playoffs in the 2020-2021 season. I’d say it's probable as long as Wall comes back healthy which most people do today from achilles injuries.
lavar703
At this point they should trade Beal. It’s not fair to him to hold him hostage on a crappy team.

They shouldn't trade anyone just bc its best for that player and not for the team. Beal is only 26. Definitely young enough to grow w/ Brown, Bryant, Hachimura, Admiral and hopefully a top 5 pick next year as well as maybe some of the other young players we've traded for. The Wizards are probably only going to be absolutely awful for one season. When Wall returns in 2020 and with some development of these young kids they'll be a playoff team again or contending for the playoffs in 2020 at the least. Well it won’t be long before he requests a trade. He’s not going to want to hang out on an rebuilding team and the first chance he gets to leave he’s going to. He’s been seen having fun w/ Wall on the sidelines during summer league and last year he seemed to enjoy playing with the younger guys we had like Bryant and Brown. I think Beal will be excited to finally have the offense almost entirely focused on him and built around him. See bolded above. This isn't hockey... 8th seeds have no shot. I want a title contender. And trading Beal, and rebuilding, gives them the best chance. Following Westbrook's upcoming trade, which team will be in a better position to contend for a title faster? The Thunder or Wiz?

Thunder easy. reason being all the picks they got for from the clippers, which includes pistons, heat picks that were traded to them. also they are probably close to clearing the books on their cap space if westbrook is traded. we will be paying wall in the 40s.......... Clips inquired about Beal too. Probably wouldn't have gotten the same haul... but not far off either. If we trade Beal, Wall might want out when he gets back too. Shoot, I hope he's healthy and is balling... he becomes easier to move.

Depending on the compensation they get from a team (say, Denver?), it could be good for the team as well (both in terms of assets back and also potential cap space being freed up).
