This is a better team than what we have now, and you know I love me some bratt

I don't disagree. Question is, which prospect we talking there?

Jesper Bratt, Will Butcher, Reilly Walsh and a pick (not sure what we'd offer there - would say a 2nd but we don't have a 2020 2nd anymore).

I mean, can we afford to trade assets for Laine and then pay him handsomely knowing we still have to pay Hall and eventually Hischier, Hughes and Bratt? We don't really have a Domi type prospect though, unless that would be Bratt.

Bratt+Butcher+prospect+pick(s) for Laine could work but then we'd be right back at that spot where we are STILL needing a top 6 FWD. Unless we think Boqvist or Zacha can pull it off.

Can we afford it? It would get interesting at points. I think longer term deals would be out for some guys and you would opt for bridge deals. If we keep bratt for example, I don't think we go 5x5, more likely like 3.5x3. Nico may get something like 6x4 instead of 8.5x8.

It could be doable, in my opinion.

Man, I'd absolutely die if we landed Laine. Don't see it happening but...god damn, would that be an insane young core.

I'm really curious as to butchers value. If he's viewed as a second pairing, PP guy, would like Butcher + 1st + am extra piece (woooooooood lol) get it done?

Dude, and he'd be so great for Hughes and bratt on that second line. A pure shooter for those two? Dear God

lol I doubt it but, good god would I love it. I just don't see any way we would be able to land Laine without dealing Bratt. If Raymundo pulls off a deal for Laine without him being involved (or Ty Smith), I'd roflolololololololooloolololol all the way to the Stanley Cup.

Yeah, my gut says it has to involve bratt, boqvist or Smith. I'd be willing to look at it still for sure. Sometimes, you just have to make those big boy NHL trades

Laine is a super interesting case. You know he's the one they'd least like to lose, but I have seriously heard nothing good about that relationship. It feels like Trouba all over again

For sure. But, you'd think if he were available, someone would be able to put together a better package than we can and hope to talk him into a bridge deal.

If we could pull it off with Boqvist, that'd be ideal.

Butcher, Boqvist, Walsh, 2021 conditional 1st (2nd if conditions aren't met).

I think on a bridge deal, he's getting 7+. Just not a ton of teams that can afford it. They could make it work at some point, but I think it has more moving parts then it would take for us

I feel like that's hard for them to turn down, tbh. I think that's a legit offer
