medisback
Team Needs: QB, OG, ILB, OT, CB, RB, WR, Edge, Trade #1: with Rosen, Nelson, Chubb still on the board, Elway elects to trade down with CHI. Using Jets trade I have Den going from 5 to 8 and getting CHI’s 2nd and 2019 first in the trade. CHI takes Nelson @ 5, IND takes Chub @ 6, TB takes Ward @ 7 AND… 1st round: 8. DEN drafts Josh Rosen (QB UCLA): Elway gets the most pro-ready QB in the draft and picks up extra draft collateral for next year. Trade #2: Den trades #39 (from CHI) and #106 (4th) to move up to #32 to grab their D QB (ILB) of the future. 32. Leighton Vander Esch (ILB BSU): Reminds of early Dansby vs Urlacher. I see Smith (Georgia), Evans (Bama) drafted ahead of him but he may end up just as or more productive than the other two. 2nd round: #40: DEN Wynn (UGA)/Hernandez (UTEP)/Price(OSU) OG: whichever is there. I like all three prospects. 3rd round: 71. DEN OT Orlando Brown OT (OU): Drops due to one of the truly worst combines I’ve ever seen. Den takes a chance after reviewing game tape. Could be a steal. 99. DEN CB: Carlton Davis (CB Auburn): was a pest to NFL-caliber WRs in SEC, helps replace production lost with Talib trade. 4th round: 113. DEN RB Rashaad Penny (SDSU): This is a deep class. Penny should be productive as an all-purpose back. 5th round: 149. DEN takes a flyer on one of Rosen’s more productive WR’s in Jordan Lasley (UCLA). Drop rates are an issue but a homerun hitter when he catches the ball. Day 2 talent falls due to off-the-field issues. 160. DEN finishes the draft grabbing an edge rusher in Kemoko Turay (Rutgers): was saw him up and close at the senior bowl. Could learn moves from Miller; however, already hones in on the ball and tackles well. Thoughts, just trying to add a few new names to the argument and manipulate the board in a fashion that nets best value possible. I picked players in the range that various sites had them ranked overall. I'm sure several players will go higher than drafted here. I appreciate the feedback as always. Any additional insight from the more football savvy greatly appreciated. I would also not be opposed to moving up with NYG to nab Darnold if CLE goes Allen. thebestever6
Penny is gonna go higher and I will say this if we try getting cute a team will trade ahead of us. If you like Rosen at 8 you should like him at 5.
paul-mac
There is absolutely no chance that the Bears are trading 8, their second round pick, and next year’s 1st to go from 8 to 5 and take a Guard.
Broncofan
Teams always want to trade back. Teams rarely pay a mint to move up if it’s not for a QB. Moving up 3 spots for a guy that might be there regardless and paying a 1st/2nd? That’s completely in the land of pipe dreams. The reason why ppl pay a premium is to move up to jump ahead for a guy in heavy demand. I love Nelson’s ability in a vacuum but there is no way CHI trading a 1st/2nd to move up for a G. IronJ
I see little chance this would happen, but if it did it would be GREAT for us!
Scoundrel
That trade won’t happen.
Scoundrel
And most of those players won’t be there at those spots.

This is the correct answer. NO WAY Chicago mortgages their future for a Guard. I will say that Nelson is the most worthy top 5 pick maybe ever. But he is not worth the value that we get to Chicago. No way

My Mock has LVE to, however, there is no way he lasts to 31 IMO. He won't get past the Steelers
