there is a very short list of guys who  were 100 tackle, 10+sack, 5+ turnover edge players in the history of the sport. Im not sure if he makes the  HOF but the  few guys that ever accomplished those stats for even 1 season are all there IIRC.

He was a force.  Some great players don't get in the HOF for some reason, Joe Klecko for example Pro Bowl at 3 positions and respected by the likes of Hannah.

"And it was with one final glance back that Harrison was at peace. He rode his Toro to the sunset he wondered what other obstacles he would overcome now. No longer chasing down the likes of Brady, Manning, and Brees, he thought to new challenges. Crabgrass maybe..."

If Joey Porter isn't in the hall of fame don't know how you even consider James.

DPOY,  could have been SB 43 MVP. Porter was good, but  not as good. Good point though, Peezy shouldn't be forgotten^_^ Would you rank Porter above Lloyd?

How dare you

might as well offer a possible reason why  Please forgive:

IMO there are very few in the history of the game that would have made this play.  It was quick and precise and original as it wasn't the chop or typical angle for a hard hitting tackle.

He's not going to the Hall of Fame.  He had one great year, 4 good years, 9 average years.  You don't get into the Hall of Fame as a pass rusher after averaging 5 sacks a season.  Especially not after going your final 7 seasons averaging 3.7 sacks a year.  He started 75 games in his final 7 seasons.  He wasn't a backup until t his past year.  He just wasn't producing like people acted like he was, and he was overrated because he was alright at such an old age.

Lowest sack total for a pass rusher currently in the Hall of Fame is Howie Long at 84.  Harrison had 84.5.

Long did it in 12 years with 8 pro bowls, 3 first team all-pros, 2 second team all-pros and a defensive player of the year award.
Harrison has 5 pro bowls, 2 all-pros, 2 second team all-pros and a DPOY.

Just don't think he's got a chance.

Steelers ring of honor then?

He wont go to the Hall of Fame for reasons you alluded to....but I have to think you didnt watch him much if you think he only had ONE great year.

Between 2007 and 2011, he was a top 3-5 defender in the league....easily.   He was an elite pass rusher those years, even if he didnt always have 12-15 sacks.    He was dominant run defender and even good in coverage, which he played alot more of than people realize.   If he rushed the passer more, he probably wouldve had those lofty sack stats every year.

He was uncoachable early in his career according to LeBeau, but the talent was always there.   However, the fact that he didnt find his groove until he was about 28 is the reason he wont be a HOF.

James Harrison was absolutely HOF quality for a 4 or 5 year span...but it wont be enough.

I agree but i think there is just as much a chance he unretires to plays as coaches still

Joey Porter is a great comp - even to the career arc where he went into coaching yet still couldn’t resist getting on the field.

Bills were always just so bad haha I remember thinking in 2009 that they were bad because of missing the playoffs 10 years in a row.. if only I knew how long it would continue for

I don't think people remember just how many game changing plays he made in his career. And how often they came in the biggest moments. Jesus - NE may not have reached the Super Bowl without him last year. The Steelers don't go to the AFCCG game last year without him. And that's when he's pushing 40.

Defensive players have tough sledding to get into the HOF period. They have to do it longer and better than their offensive counterparts. But the people just comparing the numbers, even if that's the argument HOF voters will make, are ridiculous. Simeon Rice? Joey Porter?
