What about this scenario?

*TRADE*

--Buffalo sends #12, #22, 2nd, 2019 1st to the New York Giants for pick #2

#1--Cleveland--Sam Darnold/QB/USC

#2--Buffalo--Josh Allen/QB/Wyoming

#3--New York--Josh Rosen/QB/UCLA

#4--(Cleveland trades #4 (Barkley), #33, #66 to the New York Giants for #22 and WR Odell Beckham)

*Browns select CB Josh Jackson at #22.

So we'd leave the 1st round with:

Sam Darnold QB

Odell Beckham WR

Josh Jackson CB

(#35, 4th, 5th, 6th, 7th round picks)

Seems like wayyyyyy too much to give for OBJ.  Pick 33 and drop from 4 to 22?

I know, I know. It's actually a great read:

Oh, and Barkley isn't wearing a shirt on his cover as well so obvious bust ?.

I read it. The Chargers story and the text message at the end bothered me, as did the topless headband posing, but at this point, we’re seven days out.

I’m going to have to learn to love the guy soon enough if we take him.

Also cases of getting a very high pick.  Your point?

I think we all know which teams NOT to make this kind deal with.

I think the point being made by others is that there is no reason to trade 33 or 35 straight up for a future first because teams historically get some other throw-in with the pick due to the risk that a team surprises and basically gives us the same pick back a year later. Look at the 49ers just last year trading a high 3rd (67) straight up for a 2018 2nd from the Saints. The Saints got Kamara and the 49ers waited a year to jump eight spots to 59 overall. I wanted Kamara bad, but that's another conversation for another day.

Imagine if we did a deal like that with the colts a few years ago.  Boom pick 1 and Andrew Luck.

But lets just focus on the select few similar deals that didnt work as well.  They still worked, just not as well
