Lorenzo Carter or Ronnie Harrison.

PS....whoever voted center is a complete dunce.   Voting RB isnt much better, but at least it has a remote chance of happening.

What’s the thinking for Alexander here? He’s one of my favorite corners in the class, (along with Denzel Ward and Mike Hughes) but the current crop of Haden, Burns, Hilton and Sutton seems fairly deep from an outside observer’s viewpoint. Have I misread that? Is it a value or lack of better options thing?

Mainly because Hughes and Alexander have great value at 28 and the secondary still isn't to the point where someone isn't replaceable. The secondary had a significant drop off when Haden had to miss a chunk of the season last year. I understand why people are going corner, its truly a toss up in this situation.

Steelers have scouted him and Colbert was at the Louisville Proday so he is a possibility.  I would rank Carter higher but ...

Not trying to troll but if the draft fell this way, any chance Steeler fans would entertain Genard Avery?  I know he's not 'rated' as a first round pick, but I'm kinda high on him and Anthony Miller from that Memphis team...

No.  Not in the first. Here is the list I would look at due to past Steeler behavior with their 1st round picks

MOST LIKELY:
Pro Day dinner (Colbert tried to attend LVE dinner/pro day but couldn't because of weather), expected to be drafted before 2.60, position of need.

LB Leighton Vander Esch, Boise State
RB Darius Guice, LSU
S Jesse Bates, Wake Forest
LB Rashaan Evans, Alabama
S Ronnie Harrison, Alabama
QB Lamar Jackson, Louisville
QB Mason Rudolph, Oklahoma State
WR James Washington, Oklahoma State
TE Mike Gesicki, Penn State
EDGE Sam Hubbard, Ohio State
CB Denzel Ward, Ohio State
NT Da’Ron Payne, Alabama

A REAL POSSIBILITY:
Attended pro day. May have had unreported dinner. Either a need fit or expected 1st/early 2nd rounder.

LB/EDGE Lorenzo Carter, Georgia
RB Sony Michel, Georgia
LB Arden Key, LSU
CB Donte Jackson, LSU
C Billy Price, Ohio State
CB Jaire Alexander, Louisville
RB Nick Chubb, Georgia
CB Tony Brown, Alabama
