Great. Now to replace him let's draft another super fast TE and use him exclusively to block.

Problem is, when you run an Ace set (the now infamous 12 personnel) as we do often, that second TE better be a good blocker to make up for the lack of a lead blocker. Bennett, Fasano, Escobar, none of them learned to block quickly enough to get on the field consistently enough for their potential use in the passing game to matter.

Couple that with the rise of good slot play (Crayton, Robinson, Beasley) and they see the field even less. Hannah was the go to second man in most non-3 receiver sets, eith the others getting on the field way too sparingly.

I get what they tried to do, it just didnt work out given the players they picked.

Fasano became a good blocker, and stuck around a long while. Bennett was a strict seam route guy after leaving here and was never worth the contracts he kept getting in the big hopes teams had for him. And Escobar flaked entirely. Its no wonder none of them really became anything more than a footnote- in this league, you have to block if you are going to get on the field at TE unless youre an all time special receiver type...like AG or TG (who did become a nicd blocker later in his career)
