Cheese Curds: Green Bay Packers Updates

Can’t imagine Rodgers is pleased with this move. Why commit to returning if they are going to ship away your best target, I assume he wanted to return based on the idea that GB was close. But maybe Rodgers just wanted money at the end of the day. Now they have to rebuild that WR corps and hope Rodgers can adjust to new faces that are likely to be far inferior to Adams. Just seems like a strange spot for Rodgers to be in at this stage of his career

Rodgers knew Adams wasn’t coming back.

Agreed.  He signed already knowing that Adams wouldn't be returning.  It'll be interesting to see what happens.  I hope that they do sign OBJ, because he's guaranteed to break up that locker-room.  He may have gotten by in LA, but he's ruined 2 locker-rooms already.

He wasn't in LA long enough to break it up. But you're right.

They don't need it to be great. They should easily win the division again and be in contention for the #1 seed even without Adams.

Winning a bad division doesn't tell you anything.  It's part of the reason why it shouldn't be all that surprising that the Packers have folded the playoffs the last few seasons.  This division has been a bad division and that won't change this year.  Just look at the winner of the NFC East the last 4 years.

Will be interesting to see how the packers attempt to add receivers to make up for this. That have the draft picks to grab a guy or two, I heard Jarvis Landry is on their radar. Maybe OBJ or Julio? Lazard and MVS are still free agents.

I think the Landry connection was effectively ruled out a few days ago by one of the beat writers.  Lazard is effectively back with his 2nd round tender.

Imagine if Love was a good qb and the Packers got a boatload of picks for Rodgers.  They could have rebuilt in a hurry

Thought this would have been the better long term move. They are in such a curious spot between winning now and needing to rebuild. That WR group looks awful on paper and there seems to mostly be washed up options available in OBJ, Jones and Landry; just seems like a curious spot to surround Rodgers with likely rookie receivers to need to play at a MVP level for GB to be competitive. Think last years team peaked with Rodgers and they couldn’t even win a playoff game.
