I would agree about taking RBs in the first round, especially high in the first round, but, having a Zeke type player does wonders for the offense. It was one game, but, Dallas just got owned big time by a defense that normally struggles vs decent/great RBs who can catch. I am also still in the camp that believes Zeke should have been OROY last year instead of Dak because there is no doubt in my mind that Dak does not have as great of a rookie season without Zeke commanding so much attention out of the back field.

Of course, there is also the salt of Richardson still in my thoughts....:(

richardson wasn't a talent bust, he was an effort bust.

He wouldof been a guy that gets 10,000 yards if he had stayed healthy and on track.

Nope.

My new Kiper Premium rankings have Tate as the 10th WR; he slid b/c as the caveat I had on him before was if he could consistently show long speed & separation...he has not and is solely a jump ball specialists.

I have Ridley number 3.

Ridley still weighs 180 at 6ft 1 according to Saban's recent comments which probably raise durability concerns in draft rooms ultimately causing him to fall to late first to early second.

I'd love to get him there.

1. James Washington, 2. Courtland Sutton, 3. Calvin Ridley, 4. Michael Gallup, 5. James Gardner, 6. Anthony Miler, 7. Anthony Johnson, 8. Jaleel Scott, 9. Christian Kirk, 10. Auden Tate, 11. Simmie Cobbs Jr.

I REALLY like Sutton

I'm going to be honest, Saquon Barkley scares the life out of me in the Top 5. I've seen a fair number of his games and maybe I've just caught some of the rough ones, but I don't think he's nearly as fast behind the line as people make out. He got stuffed a lot, and pretty easily. He made a play in the end in many of the games, but I was left envisioning him getting frustrated and stoned behind the line in the pros by quick D-lineman. He's more power than speed, and I'm not a big fan of that in the NFL today. Also he was getting mad hype over special teams plays... I didn't really understand that. Little relevance to being an NFL RB.

Don't get me wrong, I think he can be good. He probably will be. He has some great skills once he gets going and out into the open field, but truthfully I don't think he looks very explosive off the ball. The stats have kind of backed that up recently. Have to admit I'd be very worried personally if we take him early.

I also did a study and made a post some weeks back that showed that in the last 19 drafts, 14-15 years of them it proved that the best first round QB would've been a better pick than the best first round RB. 3 of the years had neither any good QB or RB, and only 1 or 2 of the years was the best RB a better pick than the best QB. That was Adrian Peterson over Brady Quinn.

Unless you believe the QBs in this draft suck balls, and that Barkley is an AP level special talent. Take the QB.

I personally would rather have RoJo from USC in the 2nd or 3rd than Barkley in the Top 5.

Well the times I have seen Penn st their OL has been horrific and that they try to run McSorely way too much. Barkley shouldn’t have a 50 carry lead over McSorely After playing 10games. Barkley has 6 games this year that he only ran the ball 15x or less. He is a bell cow, you gotta feed him. Franklin was gifted a stud heisman type RB and he refuses to truly use him

I have already answered that question. There is no doubt he is worth a Top 5 pick.

He is definitely a top 5 talent, but RB's often slip a bit in the draft, since teams know they can find a decent RB in rounds 2-4 and hence, do not want to spend a top 5 pick on one.

If we go QB #1 overall and follow up with Barkley at say 5 or 6 with Houston's pick, I would have no problem with it and then concentrate on finding a WR and some OL help and our offense could become top notch within 2 seasons. I'd even double up on WR and RB, because you just never know how injuries can occur.

Then use the 2019 draft to solve any defensive woes, although Thomas, our LT could need to be replaced as well.

That is how fast a team can be rebuilt once you solve the QB position. Fail to solve the QB position and all the improvements elsewhere won't amount to much more than 5 or 6 wins, if that.

Baker Mayfield in a system that is all in and caters to his abilities is a successful NFL QB.

I love the guy, but he is likely 5'10" or possibly 5'11", which practically means, nobody would use the #1 overall pick on him, although I feel he will go round 1 at some point.

I agree completely. If the right team takes him and fully buys in, I think they'll have a good one. It's hard to completely predict the transition because he's throwing into mostly big windows but you can still see the things that he does so well. Great footwork, athletic, he's an efficient gunslinger. He just had a picture perfect 60+ yard deep ball dropped. His body type and movement reminds me of Russell Wilson but he's also got some of the good Manziel to him, though he's twice as controlled within the framework of the play as Johnny was. Then there's a little bit of Brees in there with the accurate gunslinger thing.

I know they seem like lazy comparisons to make based on height, but they feel valid.

One of my buddies mentioned Ryan Finely as someone they really liked and I watched a few cutups and I tend to agree, the kid can play.

My buddy mentioned his mechanics, which do look good.  I thought he had a nice compact throwing motion and seemed to be comfortable moving in the pocket.

If y'all haven't seem him play, give him a look.

I would honestly take him if I didn't like Rosen (and to a lesser extent Darnold) as much.

Manziel was a bad man when he had his head screwed on straight.

Yeah whatever you think of Manziel off the field. Dude could play football and was way better from the pocket than the haters want to admit.
