He'll most likely be a much bigger ST contributor next year than defender. Its great to have an upgrade for Joe Thomas but Thomas played in only 10% of defensive snaps last year. I wouldn't dislike the pick so much if we weren't completely ignoring positions like Edge and WR. Nothing like going into a season needing huge seasons from guys like Kyler Fackrell and Gerinimo Allison. I really disagree with the percentage of snaps you think he could possibly play. Mark Barron has carved out a mainstay roll with the Rams. Kwon with the Bucs, Whitehead formerly of the Lions etc. There's a LOT of snaps to be had from this guy. There's more passing downs in todays league than there are running downs.

Im not too impressed with him albeit I only watched 2 games. He seems like a safety who isn't a great tackler playing ILB. His highlights look better but overall I'm not feeling him so far. His athletic traits and combine is really impressive. Hopefully he'll turn into a better tackler putting on a few pounds. Feel like we have a guy in Josh Jones can play the role he's gonna play but I guess they are really set on him playing SS. Hopefully thats part of the keeping it simple for him. He is gonna have his hands full (Jones)

Are you really expecting a 2nd-or later round draft pick to come in and contribute as a pass rusher or receiver in anything more than a rare sub package? Receivers have to learn the pro game, pass rushers in college often flourish with physical superiority and one or two rush moves. There are a few rare ones out there that can play day one with the big boys but expecting to find them in the third round is chasing a unicorn

My thing with him is this...He's immediately going to get to plays that our past linebackers simply couldn't get to. Even just hindering those plays a bit will make a massive difference. Whether it be a deflection or even simply slowing his guy down. He's not a finished product at all, but the tools are scary. LIS on page 6, if he ran a 4.5 he goes before a ton of the other off the ball backers. He's versatile and it's going to be fun watching how Pettine uses him. WR is a huge learning curve in our offense regardless who it is. I was thinking earlier who would be a decent stop gap guy there in FA

Where Joe just wasn't really very good and couldn't get himself on the field more, Oren has a for sure shot here for some immediate snaps. All 3 picks have legitimate time available on the field, TC and preseason will be fun to watch.

beekay414
EDGE Josh Sweat (raw athletic freak with injury history) Jeff Holland (try hard with a great anchor) Leon Jacobs (athletic freak) Dorance Armstrong (raw, played in a system that didn't play to his strengths) Duke Ejiofor (try hard) Ogbonnia Okoronkwo (non-stop motor) Kylie Fitts (pass rush specialist, older, injury history) Marquis Haynes (pass rush specialist) Hercules Mata'afa (try hard with lack of EDGE experience) Joe Ostman (epitome of a try hard) WR Deon Cain DaeSean Hamilton EQ St. Brown Cedrick Wilson Auden Tate Antonio Callaway (character so not likely on the board) Allen Lazard (screams Packer pick) Marcel Ateman Cedrick Wilson Daurice Fountain Justin Watson Jordan Lasley Jaleel Scott Jester Weah Still plenty of options that we can gamble on with our plethora of day 3 picks. I'm not worried in the slightest.
