If he can get his form back from 2016 we got a steal. I think Irvin will help keep him out of trouble.

Based on what the Bengals did last year, I suspect Key would see the field primarily on obvious passing downs. Something like: Irvin - Hurst/Hall - Mack - Key. The Bengals routinly put one of Dunlap or Johnson on the inside last year on obvious passing downs. Key would play Carl Lawson’s role as a designated pass rusher. RaidersAreOne
Awesome article on Key: https://www.sfchronicle.com/raiders/article/Raiders-rookie-DE-Arden-Key-a-student-of-the-pass-13161786.php Quote “I got a lot out of that,” Key said. “Before, all I was looking at was, ‘OK, he used that move and got to the quarterback.’ When I looked at it with Chuck, it was more, ‘OK, this is the set the offensive tackle gave him. This is the move he used. This is why he used it. This is why he won.’ “It was a lot more knowledge of the game and learning how to study film rather than watching a guy get a bunch of sacks and not know why.” At the NFL combine in March, Key ran an unimpressive time in the 40-yard dash (4.9 seconds). Smith scoffs at that being a measure of Key’s quickness off the edge. In pass rushing, says Smith, “the great ones win in 5 yards,” the area encompassing the rusher and the lineman he’s trying to beat. “In that 5 yards, you have to have lateral movement, bends, change of direction, pivot, plant,” Smith said. “The great ones do all that. And Arden Key has all those qualities.” At 6-foot-5, Key sets up in a front-loaded stance with his hips raised at about the same height as his shoulders. From there, he can stay low and try to beat his tackle around the edge with quickness or deploy one of a variety of pass-rushing moves.

But Key's build is so unique. So hard to compare even if there were. Bosa and Flowers are the only ones i can think of that are around there I think. I think the FO are banking on that being a bit of a misnomer as by a good number of reports he'd been out of top shape and bulked last season up compared to what he is looking like now and what he was a year earlier. It's also been blamed for his poor year and fall in the draft (compared to the season previous) so there could be some legitimacy to it.

OakRaiders3828
I think D line roster will look like this: Mack, Irvin, Key, Carradine, Calhoun. Hurst, Ellis, Hall, Edwards, Hester
SilverLining
This young man is really gonna have to step up now to fill the shoe's Mack left. Sad to see Mack go but i'm hoping for the best.

Hopefully we'll have Tank and Irvin playing solidly at DE and Key can concentrate on learning his craft by rotating in as a pass rusher specialist so not having to take on a high profile starting DE role. Of course he'll have a little more spotlight on him now but I hope the team don't expect him to step in and instantly fill Mack's rather large shoes............ I see him as our impact guy and the leader on D now. We're gonna need a career year from him this season.
