  1. It's probably also much easier to find a talented guard than it is a LT in free agency. You'll have to spend a premium pick to get the LT but once you do, the task of shoring up the oline becomes infinitely easier.
  2. As bad as this oline is, is LT really the primary position of need? Hypothetically, if the Pat's secured the best LT in the draft next year and the line looked like Campbell-Sow-Andrews-Onwenu-Wallace Going into 2025, then that at least has the makings of pretty capable line, doesn't it?
  3. It's not perfect but it's certainly better than where it was at UNC. Just watch some of the tape. At UNC he stands straight up and down in the pocket like a damn statue. His whole form is different now.
  4. I watched a lot of Michigan last year and this guy absolutely stood out as a beast. Looking at some of the way to early mocks, most have him in the 10-20 range of the 1st round. I agree he's good, and would love to have him, but that still seems high for him. Brock Bowers was drafted 13th in 2024 and, as much as I like Loveland, Bowers is a significantly better TE prospect. Do you guys see Loveland being that high of a pick? Personally I see as more of a late 1st, early 2nd.
  5. Maye can't go in behind this line. He's making huge strides in footwork, he's starting to develope confidence in his decision making, he's had surprisingly good pocket presence in the limited time we've seen him. All of those are critically important traits for a qb to be successful. All of those things can be undone but putting him in a shooting gallery behind this line. Having to wait a year, knowing that there's some promise there in Drake Maye, WILL SUCK! Don't sacrifice what could be 12-15 of Patriots success, just so that you get to watch 12-15 games of Drake Maye this year. Our eyes should be on developing him and the best possible roster for him for the start of 2025.
  6. The benefit is him not having to learn behind the worst line in the NFL. He'll develope bad habits, start seeing ghosts, and it will completely ruin him.
  7. Agreed, and honestly I think that that's probably a part of the reason why a lot of the development news on Maye through training camp has been more negative then positive. I've got to imagine that under controlled situations, where the defense isn't allowed to hit him, the coaches are probably trying to get him not to ad lib as much, and just stay in the pocket and throw. The problem is that the athletiscm and adlibbing I'd a big part of who Maye I'd, and it wasn't allowed to come out until last night.
  8. See I'd rather keep Onwenu at RG and develope Wallace into a legit starter at RT where he's probably more comfortable. I think Onwenu is a capable RT when he has to be, but is a much better guard then he is a tackle.
  9. I wouldn't trade out either, but you never know with this current crew. I know the current oline is a disaster but I honestly feel like a year of development for guys like Robinson and Wallace, with the drafting of a Will Campbell and that Pat's oline could be significantly better 365 days from now. I haven't heard much about Wallace of late but in the past week a few people made positive remarks on Robinsons development and the possibility of him take first team reps. Campbell-Robinson-Andrews-Onwenu-Wallace had the potential to be a very capable oline.
  10. I agree. There's such a lack of talent on the team, especially a key spots, for them to mess around to much. I'm concerned that with the lack of top end offensive players in this draft, if the Pat's end up with the #1 or #2 pick, they could get a kings ransom from some team looking to land one of the few QBs, WR, or T that are there.
  11. This oline might be the worst we've had in 20 years. You can't put a project rookie behind that line. Maye gave us a reason to be optimistic about his development last night. Now we have to be patient and realize that no matter how bad we want to see him play, nothing good comes out of him playing behind this line.
  12. Actually got more for him than I thought they would. Top 100 pick.
  13. Ya, he's incredibly young too. Won't be 21 until January, so could continue to take steps in the coming season. It will be interesting to see where he goes. I assume the Pat's will be within striking distance either way, but depending on how bad they are this might be the the draft that they get tempted to trade down and add a ton picks. Not much wiggle room if they don't land him or Banks though.
  14. I'm big on Campbell too but whenever I watch a breakdown of him it always seems to come up that his arm length is a potential problem for an NFL LT and that in the end he could end up as a LG. Scares me with how far behind the Pat's are that they could take a another top pick swing at a corner stone type of player and end up still needing to find a LT by the time all is said and done.
