devils1854
Is there anyone in here that watched college baseball? Its probably become my third favorite sport behind MLB and college football. This is a huge weekend. Big OOC matchups, and the ACC starts conference play. Pepperdine vs Michigan-Big series to show if Pepperdine is back, and Michigan might need the series to stay over .500 after a tough first month of the season on the road. Oklahoma vs San Diego State-Oklahoma was huge last weekend against the SEC in Houston. Plus they have a neutral series win vs Virginia already. San Diego State could be a west coast host if things turn right. You know the committee loves to give as many non southern hosts as possible, so State needs this road series. Texas A&M vs New Mexico State-There is a good chance New Mexico State is going to dominate the WAC and have 40 wins. A series win against A&M could jump them a line to a 3 seed. Texas vs Cal State Fullerton-Is Texas back? They were 2-1 last week in Houston against the SEC. Will Fullerton ever be back? They play an insanely tough schedule, but at 4-8, they need to start winning some of these games. Southern Cal College Baseball Classic(UCLA, USC, TCU, Vanderbilt)-These are two top five teams, another top twenty team, and a team in USC that is looking strong so far, and could be a tournament team again this year. Duke vs Florida State-This could be the best Duke team ever, but they havent really been tested yet, a series win against maybe the best team in the conference can go a long way. Virginia vs North Carolina State-Virginia has way too much talent(especially pitching) to be as mediocre as they have been the past few years. NC State is undefeated in the young season, but its been against weak competition. My top 16(hosts) going into the weekend. 1.Florida 2.UCLA 3.Texas Tech 4.Georgia 5.Louisville 6.Vanderbilt 7.North Carolina State 8.Ole Miss 9.Central Florida 10.TCU 11.Miami 12.Oklahoma 13.Florida State 14.Tennessee 15.UC Santa Barbara 16.Duke On Deck:Pepperdine, Texas A&M, Arizona State, Long Beach State
devils1854
Last Weekend Top Series Virginia(2) vs North Carolina State(1) Duke(2) vs Florida State(1) Oregon State(0) vs UC Santa Barbara(3) Indiana(1) vs San Diego(2) Pepperdine(2) vs Michigan(1) Texas(3) vs Cal State Fullerton(0) Oklahoma(2) vs San Diego State(1) Mercer(1) vs West Virginia(2) Texas A&M(3) vs New Mexico State(0) Southern California College Baseball Classic UCLA 2-1(Vandy, USC) USC 2-1(Vandy, TCU) TCU 1-2(UCLA) Vanderbilt 1-2(TCU) (1)Big weekend for Virginia taking two from previously undefeated NC State. The Cavs have a lot of freshmen and sophomores playing big roles, and if they mature, Virginia will be in the National seed convo. (2)Duke hadnt really played anyone before this past weekend, so we really didnt know how good they were. They took two from the Seminoles, so they might be for real. (3)Oregon State is 5-9. Tough schedule, but they might not be good this year. UCSD swept the Beavers in Corvallis, and that is an accomplishment.(4) San Diego and Indiana could be non-traditional teams looking to steal a home regional away from the big boys, and with two road wins, San Diego helped their resume immensely. (5)Michigan is playing their first month on the road because they are a northern team, and they might be a little weary from the travel and tough schedule, but Pepperdine played well, and took a series that will probably look great in May. (6)Texas did their job and swept a struggling Fullerton team. They will have other weekends to build their resume. (7)This is the second huge weekend for Oklahoma taking the series again San Diego State. The Aztecs showed they belonged.(8)Mercer came into this week undefeated. They lost during the week to Florida State, and then dropped two more to a probably bubble team in West Virginia.(9)A&M spanked New Mexico State, and All American Nick Gonzales did not hit well against the better pitching.(10)All four of these teams are very good. All four of these teams had already been tested before this weekend. For the most part, all games were pretty close, and UCLA and USC came out on top with two wins a piece. This Weekends Top Series(My Rankings) 1.Florida vs 5.Georgia 20.Tulane vs 17.Long Beach State 2.Ole Miss vs LSU 21.Auburn vs 23.Texas A&M 6.Louisville vs Notre Dame 22.San Diego State vs New Mexico State Cal State Northridge vs Iowa 19.Mississippi State vs Arkansas Florida State vs Georgia Tech Portland vs 24.San Diego (1)The Florida/Georgia series could be the biggest of the year in the SEC, and it starts off conference play. Both teams have swept ranked rivals so far this year. Both teams have great starting pitching.(2/3 Florida). (2)I have both Tulane and Long Beach State ranked. Tulane hasnt played the schedule Long Beach has, but they are talented. Beach has been south already this year. They took two from Mississippi State in Starkville.(2/3 Long Beach). (3)Ole Miss started the season with a loss to Louisville. They won the next two to win the series, and they havent lost since. They can pitch. They can hit. They could be the best team in the SEC. LSU is losing games its shouldnt.(2/3 LSU). (4)Both Auburn and Texas A&M are ranked, but they havent beaten anyone of note. Auburn's three losses came at the hands of UCF, and A&M got swept in the Frisco College Classic.(2/3 Auburn). (5)Notre Dame is 10-2 and just swept North Carolina in Chapel Hill and they scored 33 runs in the series. Are they for real? We will find out in Louisville this weekend(Louisville 3/0). (6)Neither the Aztecs nor the Aggies had good weekend. San Diego State lost a road series to a good Oklahoma team, and New Mexico State got destroyed in three games to Texas A&M. The Aggies should have no problems with the WAC, so early series like this one will dictate what seed line they will be on.(2/3 San Diego State). (7)Port Charlotte FL to San Diego to Minneapolis to Port Charlotte and back to California this weekend. Thats the life of a northern team in college baseball the first month, but Iowa has held strong against pretty good competition(7-5). This is a big resume building weekend for both teams.(2/3 Iowa). (8)We have another SEC opening weekend matchup here. Mississippi State is dealing with pitching injuries and Arkansas just lost 5 straight after winning their first seven. Both teams still have championship aspirations.(2/3 Arkansas). (9)Florida State and Georgia Tech were both ranked in the preseason. Florida Straight has gone 1-4 against Duke and Texas Tech this past weekend, and Tech was swept earlier this year by Georgia. Both teams need wins.(2/3 Georgia Tech). (10)The West Coast starts conference play this weekend. Portland is 12-3 and San Diego is 11-4, but Portland needs this series more than San Diego based on non-conference play through the first month.(2/3 San Diego). Top 25 1.Florida(16-0) 2.Ole Miss(14-1) 3.UCLA(13-2) 4.Texas Tech(16-1) 5.Georgia(14-2) 6.Louisville(11-4) 7.Oklahoma(13-4) 8.UCF(15-2) 9.North Carolina State(13-2) 10.Vanderbilt(12-5) 11.Miami(11-4) 12.Pepperdine(12-3) 13.Duke(12-3) 14.UC Santa Barbara(13-2) 15.Virginia(12-4) 16.TCU(11-4) 17.Long Beach State(10-5) 18.Clemson(12-3) 19.Mississippi State(10-4) 20.Tulane(13-2) 21.Auburn(13-3) 22.San Diego State(10-6) 23.Texas A&M(14-3) 24.San Diego(11-4) 25.Arizona State(13-4) On Deck:Florida State, Alabama, Dallas Baptist, Wichita State Regional Projections Gainesville, FL 1.Florida vs Villanova Arizona State vs Stetson Ft Worth, TX 16.TCU vs Omaha Texas A&M vs Texas Arlington Orlando, FL 8.UCF vs Davidson Florida State vs Baylor Raleigh, NC 9.North Carolina State vs North Carolina A&T Mississippi State vs East Tennessee State Lubbock, TX 4.Texas Tech vs Stephen F Austin Wichita State vs Arkansas Durham, NC 13.Duke vs Old Dominion East Carolina vs Alabama Athens, GA 5.Georgia vs Winthrop Clemson vs Charleston Miami, FL 12.Miami vs Rider LSU vs Illinois Los Angeles, CA 2.UCLA vs Youngstown State San Diego State vs Notre Dame Charlottesville, VA 15.Virginia vs Maryland Texas vs Central Michigan Norman, OK 7.Oklahoma vs Pennsylvania Dallas Baptist vs New Mexico Nashville, TN 10.Vanderbilt vs Eastern Kentucky Indiana vs Georgia Tech Oxford, MS 3.Ole Miss vs Alabama State Tulane vs Oklahoma State UCSB(Location TBD) 14.UCSB vs Navy Auburn vs New Mexico State Louisville, LY 6.Louisville vs Wagner San Diego vs Tennessee Pepperdine(Location TBD) 11.Pepperdine vs Hartford Long Beach State vs USC Edited March 10, 2020 by devils1854
