  1. A good team to lose to, if there is such a thing. They are a very good team and I would guess if we make the playoffs we will have a good chance to play them again. It's very hard to beat a good team repeatedly. It is also a good game/team to learn from. We should have a lot of good tape to look at.
  2. I actually think this is a problem that the Lions need to figure out. I don't like relying on allowing a team to move the ball that well and then pull out the victory at the end as a strategy. Seattle did the same thing to us last year. We just can't seem to stop quick passes. They aren't usually check downs either. It is option 1 and designed to get the ball out quick. I'm not panicked about it or anything. I'm just noting that this seems to be the formula offenses are trying to develop to beat us so we need to be ready for it. Any time a QB starts to complete 70% of their passes I don't like it.
  3. I love the guy but we need an X, not a slot.
  4. Justin is on his own at https://www.detroitfootball.net. Makes sense to start your own business when the Lions have everyones attention.
  5. Which player would be the most catastrophic to lose if they were injured during the season? My top 3. 1) Hutch - This is probably more feeling than actual objectivity but I just would not feel good about the rest of a season with him out. Maybe another player will step up and give me more confidence but I think we would get run over without him there. I don't even think he is out most important player, it's just due to the rest of the players at Edge. 2) Sewell - I know that it is only one guy but I think losing him changes our offense ability completely. He gives us the ability to do many different things with many different players. 3) Goff - How could I not have him first? I just get the feeling that with our online and RBs we could manage. It would be a lot harder but I just have more confidence.
  6. I'm quite sure that stays with us. We restructured his contract right after we signed him. I think it is a bit of a bet for the Lions. The salary he signed with TB pays him about $15m/yr which is how much actual cash he is getting this year even though his cap hit is less than $5m. He is 28 years old right now and missed 4 games with injury last year. But if he plays well and stays injury free I could see us extending him and softening the blow of those void years. If his play declines or he struggles with injury I expect we will take the loss and move on.
  7. DB success is what I most want to see. We really haven't been able to develop young talent and "coach them up." Our ability to scout FAs has also been suspect. Now we've brought in more FAs and used our first two picks on rookies. I'm excited about the DB room but if none of these guys turn out it points to a real problem in our FO and coaching ranks.
  8. It's a strong contract for Goff and the Lions didn't really win anything other than keeping their QB. We probably slightly overpaid but not enough to worry about.
  9. OTC had put it the details on Goffs contract. https://overthecap.com/player/jared-goff/4714 2026 it's going to be interesting. The 2024 cap hit is a little less than I expected as is 2025. We now have over $30m space right now and $47m next year which could go up due to carryover.
  10. For sure. I'm just pointing out the flexibility.
  11. In 2026, when your percentage of the three goes way up, either Sewell or SB could be released and we would save a huge amount of cap space. I'm not saying we would or should do that. It just points to how much flexibility we have. We could easily hang on if we thought we were right there or we could have a cap casualty and reload. We should be able to sustain if we keep drafting well.
  12. Right now we have $80m in cap space for 2025 without Goff. I'm guessing over half of that is gone now.
  13. Conversation Albert Breer @AlbertBreer Details on Lions QB Jared Goff's four-year, $212 million extension ... • $73 million signing bonus. • $125 million over the first two years. • $165 million over the first three years. • $57 million in 2028, which is an option year. 12:50 PM · May 14, 2024 · 344.1K Views Brad Holmes Bulge @B radHolmesBulge
  14. Everytime there is a new contract there is always comments about front loading. That NEVER happens. I expect his cap hit will be low for the next two years then balloon up in year three. I think it would have been funny that there was a clause in there that Ben has to take him when he moves on unless we want to keep him
