  1. I cannot see us hiring another coach with no head coaching experience. I would be amazed if they do. Having said that, I think that Rivera is probably gone. McCarthy has the experience, is offensive-minded, and has coached in big game situations. He may not be the hire, but he may be what they need. At least he is proven. Remember, KC gave Reid a shot after a bad ending in Philly. The one name that has NFL head experience, Cleveland ties, is defensive-minded, and no one is talking about, is Jim Schwartz. I do not think I want a new coach again. Other than Hue and Mangini, that’s ALL we’ve hired. I just have a bad feeling about McDaniels-Denver, NE tree, Indy, etc. I’ll pass. DePodesta liked Stefanski, but again, experience? Now, a college coach? Kingsbury looks like he has it. Matt Ruhle? Maybe Lincoln Reilly after losing by 90 on Saturday is more willing to jump? I just can’t help but think that a proven, experienced NFL head coach is our safest and best bet. After all these years of suck, I’d take it. Give me McCarthy. I’d take Green Bay’s success during his tenure in a heartbeat.
  2. Being a Browns fan, I had a handful of cordial posts with a few of your members before the Browns played in Baltimore. I agree with this post, in that I think we are looking better. I have been a Browns fan for as long as I can remember, and while I wasn’t old enough to remember the 1964 title, I’ve lived through the kind of good with Sipe, the very good with Kosar, and the past 20 years of horrible. They still have to get out there and play, and while I am quite excited about this team, I am taking a ‘wait and see’ approach. However, to talk about them “responding to adversity well”, may be your opinion, but I don’t think you were paying attention. Our coach was Hue Jackson! He’s adversity personified. I think the results after we removed that adversity were pretty impressive. I think they will respond just fine. This off season has brought improvement. But again, they still have to play 16 games, and a lot can affect your season, including injuries. I’m cautiously optimistic. They’re young. They’re good. And they’re on their way. And I’m going to enjoy the ride while it lasts! Peace out.
