Well, last night was depressing. Time to tinker.

Coaching Staff

Current Coaching Staff [Link]- Changes

  • Mike McCarthy, HC - Fired
  • Joe Philbin, OL - Fired
  • Adam Henry, WR - Fired
  • Dan Quinn, DC - Hired by Broncos, HC
  • Joe Whitte Jr, DB - Hired by Broncos, DC
  • Scott McCurely, LB - Hired by Broncos, LB

MM was hired specifically to bring experience to the team. After the embarking showing last night it was clear that we lacked both discipline and experience. The experiment is over - time to move on. More changes may occur, but for now - we know those are gone.

Interview Process

  • Dan Quinn, DC Dallas Cowboys
    • Quinn has already filled in for a brief spell leading this team. His redemption is palpable and has SB experience. The players love him. Ultimately Dallas doesn't decide fast enough and he accepts the Denver job - taking several key defensive assistants with him allowing for the next DC to select their own staff.
  • Kellen Moore, OC Dallas Cowboys
    • The next Sean Payton / Jason Garrett /  Sean McVay coach. Clearly that line has had both success and failures, so Moore offers no sure thing. Still learning on the job and clearly has potential for something spectacular - but could he handle additional duties as he is still learning? He becomes the 2nd option should the number 1 option turn them down.
  • Byron Leftwich, OC Tampa Bay Buccaneers
    • Really passionate coach who has long played in the league and learned from both Arians & also Brady. Fiery leader who would be a culture changer in Dallas, ultimately before Dallas makes any decision he decides to go back to Jacksonville. Missed opportunity for Dallas.
  • Joe Whitte Jr, DB Dallas Cowboys
    • Prior to leaving with Quinn, Whitte interviews with Dallas to potentially take the next step in his coaching career.
  • Todd Bowles, DC Tampa Bay Buccaneers
    • Todd should be credited equally to Tom Brady for bringing another Championship to the Bucs - he has an outstanding coaching interview but ultimately Bowles prefers to wait for the Bucs job to open.
  • Jim Harbaugh, HC University of Michigan
    • This is Jerry going all in. Someone who has been to the SuperBowl in the NFL & had decent success at the college level. Jim is offered the post & turns Jerry down.
  • Nick Saban, HC University of Alabama
    • Saban appreciates the opportunity but he is quite happy as king of College Football.
  • Brian Flores, Former HC of Miami Dolphins
    • Not a great interview process. Wants control of roster and hasn't shown any growth from his first stint as HC.
  • Matt Eberflus, DC Indianapolis Colts
    • Eberflus is treated like the wayward son returning home during the interview process. Eberflus pitches getting Sean Lee to come back to coaching as well as part of the recruitment process. Great option, ultimately became the 3rd choice (4th if you count Harbaugh).
  • Brian Daboll, OC Buffalo Bills
    • Daboll has put on a pure clinic. A true offensive mastermind who has learned under the Hoodie and Saban. Brilliant mind who pitches getting the absolute most out of the Dallas Cowboys offense. And, as a hat tip to my Canadian brothers showing I bear no ill will after the defeat of LP, Daboll is Canadian.

The Dallas Cowboys Formally announce Brian Daboll as it's 10th Head Coach in team history after the Bills lose in the Super Bowl to the Brady Bucs.

New Coaching Staff Changes

  • Head Coach: Brian Daboll
  • Offensive Coordinator: Kellen Moore
    • Moore is convinced to stay to provide further continuity to the offense and a chance to learn from a 3rd offensive mind in hopes of further elevating his prospects for future Coaching opportunities. Moore will remain the play-caller.
  • Defensive Coordinator: Patrick Graham
    • With the coaching changes occurring at the Giants, Graham takes an opportunity re-unit with Daboll and join a defense with several stars.
  • Special Teams Cooridinator: John Fassle
    • Bones impressed this year, he stays.
  • Offensive Line Coach: Doug Marrone or Ed Warinner
    • Saban recommends Marrone to Daboll. Should Marrone choose not to come aboard, we pick up Martin's former OL coach in Ed Warinner from the college ranks.
  • Quarterback Coach: Dan Mullen or Jon Kitna
    • After being fired from Florida, Mullen considers taking OC positions as he considers himself a natural play-caller. But opts to reunite with Dak for a year while he navigates the NFL. Should something happen to Moore, Mullen takes over PlayCalling. Should Mullen not take the job, Kitna returns to the fold after the initial success he had with Dak.
  • Linebackers Coach: Sean Lee
    • The General returns to coach up the other Penn State Alum in Parsons - you ain't seen nothing yet.

With the new coaching staff in place McClay & the staff go to work evaluating the in-house free agents.
