Year 1 - Myrtle Beach Bowl

This game was a total shootout, really fun game to play. Troy could move the ball I couldn't stop them. QB Ulatowski went nuts in his likely finally game as the team's starting QB. 489 passing yards with 6 TDs and only 1 INT. He has been a really good QB for me this season. HB Garcia had 67 yards rushing. WR McCray couldn't be stopped, he had 252 receiving yards and 3 TDs. 108 of those yards were after the catch, he shredded them. I couldn't do much on defense. CB Jaylen Dotson sealed the game on the final drive with an INT, really the only play the defense made all day.

- QB Ulatowski really had an amazing year. I'm pretty shocked how few INTs I threw.

- WR McCray was #2 in the country with 1,479 receiving yards. His 16 TDs was 7th.

- LE Stephen Daley won all of those defensive awards, but he did not lead the country in sacks with 12.5. In fact he was 7th in sacks. His combination of tackles (which was unusually high for a Dlineman) and TFL must have put him over the top.

Players Transferring

QB Devin Kargman (72) - He was the primary backup last year, he has no chance of playing this year with Ulatowski returning for another season and the wonder kid coming in.

WR Dontrell Bennett (58) - He sucks so who cares

I added 24 new players to the roster which included 5 transfers. I had the best recruiting class in the MAC, not sure that means much.

TRANSFERS

#141 - 3 STAR - WR Chris Parker

4DADwud.png

I grabbed Parker in the transfer portal because I was desperate for a WR who can play right away this year. I had like 5 of my top WRs graduate. At 77 OVR he's the highest OVR player I brought to the roster this recruiting cycle. He's a big bodied WR with only 87 SPD, 87 ACC, but he should be my #2 WR this year behind McCray.

#259 - 3 STAR - LOLB Siale Esera

J7TuYDo.png

At only 74 OVR Esera is the highest OVR linebacker on my entire roster lol. He has some power pass rush moves and the size to move to DE if I wanted, but I have much bigger needs at linebacker than DE. Almost all of my linebackers are pass coverage guys so Esera gives me something at the position I don't currently have. He will likely start right away at LOLB.

#392 - 3 STAR - DE Milton Hopkins Jr.

mpyEcVq.png

I was concerned about my DE depth but ended up adding several pass rushers in the class so it worked out. Hopkins is a little light at only 226 lbs but he has 82 finesse moves with 77 SPD and 88 ACC. I have returning starters at both DE spots so he will just be part of the rotation, which will likely always be his role. Solid depth pickup.

#536 - 2 STAR - CB Zion Allen

GBpSzIo.png

I wasn't able to get Allen scouted during the recruiting process, but I know now that he has 94 SPD, 95 ACC and 93 AG. He's pretty much the most athletic CB I have on the roster. At 6'1" and with that speed, he should start as my #2 boundary CB outside, which allowed me to move some of the slower CBs inside to the slot.

#669 - 1 STAR - RT Griffin Hart

naqMrh0.png

I don't know why I signed this guy. I heavily recruited OTs but missed out on all of them so I guess I grabbed him out of desperation. I was hoping he'd be somewhat serviceable but he's terrible. He's 54 OVR and already a SO (RS). He will likely be a bottom of the depth chart his entire career and risks getting cut at some point.

NATIONAL SIGNING DAY CONTINUED - HIGH SCHOOL RECRUITS

#100 - 4 STAR - DT Anthony Shields

4BPDUwK.png

Shields is my highest rated recruit in this class, just barely breaking the top 100. He's a huge (literally) get for my program so early on. At 6'3" 331 lbs he's a massive upgrade from my starting DT last year, who was 6'5" 254 lbs. I plan on continuing the 3-3-5 defense look for now so he will man the nose for me up front. Day 1 starter.

#169 - 4 STAR - TE Gideon Muamba

Tq4tQq7.png

Muamba was my other 4 star signing and he's the only recruit I landed with the Elite development trait. That combined with his current 74 OVR should mean that he will be the most talented recruit from this class. He has 85 SPD, 82 ACC and 86 AG. He is a massive upgrade from the TEs I had last season. Should be a 4 year starter.

#583 - 3 STAR - WR John French

UAsSaTw.png

I grabbed French late in the process and he brings good size to my roster. He's pretty slow, 84 SPD, 86 ACC, 79 AG, so he will be a possession type WR. He's only a 64 OVR but somehow that is the 4th highest OVR WR on my roster. I don't see the point in redshirting someone with limited upside like him, so he will likely play as my #4 WR this year. I play quite a bit 5 wide sets on offense, usually the 5th option is a TE or RB, but the #4 WR should get quite a bit of playing time.

#589 - 3 STAR - DE Lonnie Griffin

YD97q3y.png

Griffin has good size at 6'5" 268 lbs but he's quite slow at 67 SPD. Speed isn't everything for DEs, and he does have 81 ACC, but it may limit his potential upside. He's a run stopper archetype which means he doesn't have a lot of pass rushing moves yet. I have 4 legitimate options at DE ahead of him on the depth chart so I will seriously consider redshirting him this season. If he develops maybe he becomes a starter down the line. Regardless he should be good depth.

#658 - 3 STAR - CB Marshall Redman

Iv4g4C3.png

I had a huge need at CB as all of my top ones were graduating. Redman will help in the slot as his 87 SPD, 86 ACC wouldn't be a great idea on the outside. He will start in the slot immediately as a rookie.

#681 - 3 STAR - FB Stephen Cave

29tHi3s.png

I didn't have a FB on the roster last year so I grabbed one to help out in some running packages and maybe as a blocking TE.

#686- 3 STAR JUCO SO - OC Clayton Leonhardt

G50tNwO.png

Leonhardt was the first recruit I signed and I was excited because as a JUCO SO I figured he'd come in with a relatively high OVR and could be a day 1 contributor for the team. That is why I was quite surprised to see he is only 66 OVR. It really seems like they shifted OVRs for recruits way downward from NCAA 14. But if they are going to start off so low then I have to question the benefit of adding a JUCO with less amount of years on the roster. I hope this is something they look at and possibly patch because it makes JUCOs really undesirable IMO.

#695- 3 STAR - CB AJ Heflin

XVIpAiD.png

More CB Depth. Heflin is 6'2" with 92 SPD, 86 ACC and a 74 MC rating. It'll be between him and the transfer Zion Allen for the #2 starting role on the outside. Whoever gets a higher boost in offseason training camp will likely get the spot. The other will be the #4 CB. One thing to note is that he does have Star development, so maybe I should just give him the playing time so he will develop faster.

#711- 3 STAR - P Virgil Moses

FlcPKMJ.png

I needed a Punter because mine graduated. With 82 kick power and 73 accuracy he's about as mediocre as you can get but I didn't have a lot of resources to spend on a Punter this recruiting cycle. He will start right away.

#728- 3 STAR - ATH Evan Turbin

KwusMj0.png

I don't know what his OVR is yet because for some reason it isn't showing the ATHs on my roster yet. Weird. I don't know how raw he will be but he should be a complete stud at QB. I'm hoping he can start Year 1 but if he needs to redshirt a year QB Ulatowski has proven quite capabale. Turbin should end up being one of the most important players from this recruiting class.

#918- 3 STAR - MLB Zach Hess

CAUUUd3.png

With 90 SPD and 87 ACC Hess is instantly the most athletic linebacker I have on my roster. He's only 64 OVR though which is disappointing, although that's still the highest OVR MLB on my roster. He's going to start right away but may struggle as he's pretty raw.

#946- 3 STAR - ATH Jeremiah Ismail

PD4Q5nU.png

Again, for some reason I can't see ATHs OVRs yet so I don't know how useful Ismail will be yet. I also don't really even know what position he will play. He's listed as a Possession Archetype hinting that he's a TE recruit, but at 6'5" 223 he has the size to play a lot of positions. If he could move to linebacker he might help me more there as I already added two other recruits at the TE spot. Remains to be seen what his contribution will be.

#1009- 3 STAR - LG Alex Kozlowski

L4E5s8D.png

Kozlowski was another recruit who I had hoped could come in and start right away but at only 66 OVR and two Seniors ahead of him on the depth chart I don't see how that happens. A solid 3 star in NCAA 14 was like 74-75 OVR so that was kind of where I thought these guys were going to be. Its obvious that most of these 3 stars are going to have to Redshirt as they are just not ready to play right away unless I'm desperate. He should develop into a solid starter but he isn't ready yet.

#1043- 3 STAR - FS Brian Parker

QXz1SZ7.png

Parker is a Hybrid Safety with 73 MC that will provide depth at Safety and CB this season. I have a returning Senior starter at FS so he will likely not start. If he develops he may start next year, but honestly I'd like to target someone with higher zone coverage who can start next year. Regardless he will fill a lot of roles on the depth chart and I actually think in the 3-3-5 scheme the 3rd Safety plays quite a lot.

#1057- 3 STAR - ATH Bernard Shelby

1QYK5dn.png

At 6'4" 290 lbs I want to put Shelby somewhere on the Oline, probably at one of the Tackle spots since I struck out there in recruiting. He will likely redshirt unless he's amazing after changing positions.

#1574- 3 STAR - TE Sammy Abram

lBVjwOp.png

My TEs were pretty awful last year so I wanted to bring in multiple new ones. He's only 65 OVR and pretty raw so he will likely redshirt this year but provide quality depth down the line.

#1958- 2 STAR JUCO SO - WR

swF7FaH.png

The bottom part of the recruiting list here is where I just grabbed bodies at WR. Hook is not very good and I doubt he ever contributes much of anything. Again, as a JUCO I was hoping he'd be more ready to contribute but he just isn't. I have to seriously target more WRs next as a point of emphasis.

The final two recruits are 53 OVR and 52 OVR and aren't really mentioning. Not sure they'll even make the roster.

I don't know if it was a glitch or what but it didn't give me the opportunity to change ATHs position at Position Changes. They weren't even shown on the roster and then suddenly 2 weeks later there they were on the roster. Bizarre. So it assigned Turbin a QB, Ismail is a TE and Shelby is an OC.

*Red color font means they are redshirting this season.

- Incoming recruits don't benefit from offseason training, so after the roster improved it looks like most of my young recruits will be redshirting this season. The only major contributors this year will likely be TE Muamba and DT Shields.

- At 72 OVR I decided to redshirt Turbin this year. He will be the starter next year.

- My WRs are pretty terrible.

- LT Masterson will likely start at RT.

- New starter at RE Oliver Billotte was my starting DT last year.

The Week 1 matchup against Michigan on the road is a locked game as its an in conference game. That is a brutal matchup they are ranked #1 and just won the national title back to back.
