College Football 25 Dynasty - Kent State Golden Flashes

What's your recruiting class ranking? @MKnight82 You seem to be getting a solid number of 4 star recruits.

I think I was like 24th but I just had that 4 star RT decommit. Now I dropped to 37th. I think I have a realistic chance at three more 4 stars and like 4-5 more 3 stars. Then transfers anything could happen.

Music City Bowl - Year 2

pGhTb6q.png

d3rJF2V.png

This game is odd in that some talented teams will just annihilate you while others just lay an egg. Texas did the later. Ewers just plain sucked in this game. He missed several open WRs and threw a pick in the endzone that cost them 7 points. Not the best way to end his career with Texas.

QB Tommy Ulatowski's game was a good one. He had 360 passing yards, 3 TDs and a single INT. The single INT was my obligatory pick 6 I seem to throw every game. I know literally nothing about Tommy Ulatowski IRL but he's done an admirable job for me these first two season while I work on building up the roster. Slot WR Kimbrough had 8 receptions for 149 yards and 2 TDs, while Freshman TE Muamba capped off an excellent first season with 4 receptions for 137 yards and a TD. He had an 80 yard TD reception which is really impressive for a TE. HB Garcia also closed out his college career with a solid outing, 19 carries for 97 yards and a TD.

The defense played OK. Only 1 sack which went to ROLB Sayed Abuhamdeh. CB Tyler Bivens came down with the 1 INT of the game which was in the endzone. Other than that there weren't any splash plays. The team played the run well but honestly Ewers was just missing open WRs.

Good bowl win to cap off a pretty successful season. 9-4 final record for my first season in the Big 10 as a 2 star program IMO is a successful season.

COACHING CAROUSEL

Well I was going to fire my DC and try to hire a better one but apparently you can only fire them during Conference Championship week? Lame.

I guess there's no changes to the coaching staff this year.

- I'm kind of surprised that all of my players pretty much had better stats even after moving up to the Big 10.

- QB Ulatowski's completion % dropped from 71.3% to 64% this year but his YPA went from 10.8 to 11.1 and he had 6 more TD passes and 300+ more yards than last year.

- I can't believe I get another season with McCray. He's been a beast for 2 years straight.

- HB Garcia didn't break 1,000 yards last year but did so easily this year, and his ypc went from 4.7 to 5.5.

- Freshman MLB Zach Hess had a really good year with 83 tackles, 18 TKL, 2 sacks and 2 INTs.

- Freshman NT Shields didn't have a lot of stats but his size was felt. Teams generally ran away from him.

- The offense pretty much carried the defense. My defense was awful. I need to cut down on turnovers on offense otherwise the offense is looking good. An improved Oline will help with that so I won't be so rushed to get rid of the ball.

- 24 new players added to the roster. That is the same amount as last year, except that the worst player I got was ranked #793 and I had 9 players worse than that last year. I landed 4 top 100 players, two of those were transfers though.

TRANSFERS

#31 - 4 STAR - LT Carter Smith

MyF05NS.png

I landed several high school OT recruits but was concerned they would be too raw to start right away. Smith solves that problem for me. He will only give me 1 season of play but at 83 OVR he will likely be one of the highest OVR players on my roster and probably the best Olineman I have this year. He has 86 STR, 84 PB and 85 RB. He will start at LT this year.

#56 - 4 STAR - LE Wesley Williams

wRp3AnU.png

Williams has big shoes to fill at the LE spot after Daley's graduation. Lucky for him I'm not really going to ask him to fill that role. Instead I plan to switch to a full time 3-4 alignment with Williams at DE, Shields at NT, and possibly Freshman DT Duff at the other DE Spot. In nickel Williams will probably come off the field altogether. So all Williams really has to do is help out mostly in run stuffing in the base 3-4 alignment. That's good because he isn't super athletic, 73 SPD, 74 ACC, but 90 STR.

#154 - 3 STAR - CB Jamir Benjamin

40iUQV4.png

I didn't have Benjamin scouted at all as its hard to scout the transfer portal guys. You only have 4 weeks to grab guys so recruiting hours are pretty tight. My gamble seems to have paid off as he's a 77 OVR with 95 SPD, 95 ACC and 94 AG. Prior to offseason training he's the most talented CB on my roster. He's a huge get for a terrible secondary. He will most likely start somewhere in the secondary as as he's only a Sophomore he should be around for awhile. His Impact Dev trait should help him develop into a high end starter in a year or two.

#271 - 3 STAR - WR Chadrick Queen

gueYgS3.png

Queen is pretty athletic with 92 SPD, 94 ACC and 92 AG. For comparison, my second leading WR in yardage last year, Kimbrough, only has 87 SPD, 89 ACC. Queen will join a revamped WR core headlined by McCray and incoming Freshman Hape and Lincoln. He will likely serve as the 4th or 5th WR on the depth chart but I run a lot of 5 wide sets. As a Junior I'll get 2 years out of him.

NATIONAL SIGNING DAY CONTINUED - HIGH SCHOOL RECRUITS - YEAR 2

#43 - 4 STAR - DT Branden Duff

oauNeQ5.png

This is the second year in a row that my top high school recruit is a DT. That was not by design, literally no one was recruiting Huff. DT as a need wasn't really even on my radar, but after some of the other pieces I landed and deciding to make the switch to a 3-4 defense, Huff could be a big part of that. I think I'm going to leave him at DT on the roster in case I change my mind but he will be a DE starter on the depth chart. He's a Speed Rusher archetype with 75 SPD, 81 ACC, 91 STR at 6'2" 304 lbs. He has Impact dev trait so he needs to be on the field. My other option would to be to run a traditional 4-3 look but I don't have traditional DEs to run that, and I also lack enough coverage linebackers to back that up.

#99 - 4 STAR - WR Jacques Hape

dwDYxBj.png

I would like Hape to be my McCray succession plan but Normal dev may prevent that. I'm not sure how impactful the dev traits are yet so that remains to be seen. With 95 SPD, 93 ACC and 93 AG Hape is the fastest WR I have on my roster. For this season I expect him to take over the #3 Slot role that Kimbrough filled last year. I run a lot of deep go routes out of that spot and he will be ideal for that. I expect he will start regardless of what happens in offseason training simply because he's faster than anyone else I have.

#153 - 4 STAR - LT Theo Weir

5UiqMbF.png

The curious case of Theo Weir. He's a 4 Star but he's a bust. He wasn't supposed to be very good this year. But he's a 77 OVR with Impact dev trait, soooo..... I'm confused. I thought I would have to Redshirt him for sure but he has a strong chance of starting at RT as a true Freshman. He already has 93 STR, 76 PB, 80 RB, and 88 IB. Oh and he's 6'8" 325 lbs. He could be a 4 year starter.

#166 - 4 STAR - ROLB Jordan Gallon

7zsNPC5.png

Realistically Gallon is my Daley replacement despite being an OLB. He's a 6'4" 257 lb Power Rusher with 83 SPD, 88 ACC, 81 PM and 72 FM. I could move him to DE and try to run a traditional 4-3 but I want to see what a 3-4 will look like in college. I'm hoping Gallon develops into my top pass rusher. He has Star dev which should help his development.

#190 - 4 STAR - WR Thad Lincoln

5R6FtfE.png

Lincoln projects to be a really good player for me. He has good size at 6'3" with 92 SPD and 88 ACC. He also has Star dev which may make him long term a higher OVR than Hape. However, I expect some of the existing WRs on the roster to eclipse him in OVR after Offseason Training, so its possible he gets Redshirted this year. That will preserve a year for him and also break up him and Hape so they won't both graduate at the same time.

#216 - 4 STAR - OT Tobias Windt

VsvLfFF.png

Windt is a talented pass protecting archetype LT recruit. He's 6'7" 322 lbs with 83 STR, 82 PB but only 65 RB. He's already 74 OVR and has Star Dev should he should develop into a quality starting LT. Luckily Senior Transfer Carter Smith will give me the ability to Redshirt Windt this year, then I expect he will start at LT for 4 years after that.

#243 - 4 STAR - TE Sterling Davis

8QO0aSA.png

Davis is a Blocking TE Archetype that will serve as my #2 TE behind Muamba. He should help in the run game and can play some FB if I have any injuries there. He isn't super athletic with 72 SPD, 76 ACC but he has 82 STR, 74 RB, 72 IB and 69 PB. Those blocking attributes are 10+ higher than all of my other TEs. I doubt he Redshirts but won't ever start. He will be a depth blocking TE his whole career.

#351 - 4 STAR - DE Prince Ajayi

kOKU27i.png

Ajayi is another reason I decided to go with a 3-4 base defense. He's another large run stuffing DE which fits well into a 3-4 base. He's 6'5" 281 lbs with 76 SPD, 82 ACC and 85 STR. I would like to Redshirt him this year because I want DT Duff to start at one of the DE spots, and Senior Transfer Williams can start at the other spot. He's only Normal Dev but I think after Redshirting he can develop into a solid starter.

#352 - 4 STAR - HB Terron Miree

MIZUvCy.png

Landing an Impact Dev new starting RB after Garcia graduated is a huge get for my program. He's only a 73 OVR but has 90 SPD, 91 ACC and 89 AG which is better than all of my other RBs. Its possible Douglas gets a huge boost in Offseason Training but I expect Miree to start this year. I want him to get carries so he develops.

#363 - 4 STAR - FS Simon Kowalski

m3fDobW.png

I considered moving Kowalski to CB because he has 75 Man Coverage but I was able to land some other CBs in this class and I'd like to have a Safety developing on the roster. I have a returning Safety who will likely be a higher OVR than him this year so I'd like to Redshirt him. Then hopefully he starts the following year. He's the most athletic Safety I have with 91 SPD and 91 ACC.

#496 - 3 STAR - ATH Zach Etienne

Y3KUGVH.png

I was hoping Etienne could end up somewhere on defense (he's an ATH) but he doesn't have any defensive attributes. So instead he's going to be a bottom of the depth chart backup QB. He will Reshirt this year and maybe he becomes the primary backup someday, but more likely I recruit better QBs down the line and he's stuck as 3rd or 4th on the depth chart his whole career. But hey, the game says I gotta have 4 QBs on the roster so whatever.

#506 - 3 STAR - P Storm Bernstine

RmFD7z5.png

He's a freaking 6'5" Punter named Storm Bernstine what else do you need to know? Oh, well he also has Impact Dev with 91 KP and 70 KA. I have 2 other Punters on the roster so I'll be able to Redshirt him this year but he will likely start for 4 years starting next year.

#564 - 3 STAR - CB Donte Williams

KMyE4j9.png

I signed Williams because he was a GEM 3 star but somehow he's only 65 OVR with 84 SPD and 83 ACC. That's pretty much unplayable this year. He does have Star Dev though so maybe he improves into a passable slot CB. I can't see him ever playing outside with that speed. Definitely Redshirting.

#572 - 3 STAR - ATH Brad Walters

OjK8cpi.png

Walters will play OLB as a Power Rushing edge. After moving from ATH to LOLB he's only a 63 OVR so he's definitely Redshirting. Normal Dev. Probably a career backup.

#579 - 3 STAR - RT Ahmad McQueen

sZpNqms.png

I moved McQueen to RG since I landed so many OTs this year. He's a little smaller than the other Tackles I signed, 6'4" 316 lbs so the transition makes sense. I didn't have him scouted when I signed him but he only has 80 STR, 73 PB and 73 RB. So he's pretty raw, only 67 OVR. He will Redshirt and provide depth on the interior going forward. I'd like to recruit a higher end Guard to start next year so I expect he will be a career backup.

#590 - 3 STAR - ATH Hugh Payne

cGDh8bz.png

Not 1 but 2 Impact Dev RBs in this class. Payne is really raw, only 67 OVR. So despite having 92 SPD 89 ACC he will likely Redshirt. He will likely be a backup behind Miree most of his career despite his dev trait. If he can add some more speed maybe he becomes a kick returner down the line. Definitely Redshirting.

#602 - 3 STAR - MLB Bryan Clement

My linebackers are straight garbage. Clement is nothing special but he will offer depth at the MLB spot, which is important with a 3-4 defense. Its possible I have enough pass coverage linebackers at OLB that can provide depth this year, so he may redshirt. With Normal dev and 79 SPD, 82 ACC he will likely never start.

#630 - 3 STAR - K Morgan Theus

He was the top Kicker in the nation this year. Star Dev, 92 Kick Power and 76 Kick Accuracy. I have a returning Senior at Kicker so he will get the opportunity to Redshirt. Then he will likely start for 4 years.

#638 - 3 STAR - CB Cole Caver

Caver has 89 SPD, 86 ACC, not great but at least better than Donte Williams. He's pretty raw with 69 MC, 61 ZC so he will need to Redshirt.

#793 - 3 STAR - ATH Dakota Hill

And lastly we have Hill. He's an ATH who could be a linebacker but I put him at SS. He has 87 SPD, 90 ACC and 72 ZC with 77 hit power. I like him developing as a run stuffing Safety. He's only 69 OVR so he will Redshirt.
